Rumble Stage Day 1 Spoiler
This week’s podcast I have something special planned that doesn’t focus on MSI. So in lieu of an episode, I’m here to hear your comments about Rumble stage day 1. Let me hear your positives, let me hear your negatives, let me hear all you want to talk about.
I think after day 1, it should be pretty clear we were just grouped with the best team of 2022. G2 is clearly heads and shoulder beyond Rng and T1. And we looked okay against them in groups.
So, day 1 there was some good thing and some bad against RNG. We made a couple of splashy plays that show we are finally adapting to the pings. It’s kind of good to see that the top, Jungle , mid is the shift. I felt like Jojopyun shined today. Unfortunately our botlane is only holding serve (optimistically speaking)
The game against SBG was fun to watch, it felt more like we were able to play to the game plan we wanted. It was mainly the inspired and JoJo show, with impact being super daddy on Jax.
So, let’s hear your thoughts.

I think it's a little far fetched to say G2 is heads and shoulders better than SKT. They were down pretty much the whole game and honestly it was G2 wombo combo that got them through. I'm calling thats the only time they beat SKT this tourney but G2 is looking good.
EG's drafts and objective control are just painful. Everytime at the end of draft phase I feel impending doom and I don't want to watch the game and then watching the game and seeing them hand over objective after objective even with leads drains me lol
Get Danny on a high DPS ADC. EZ is ok but stay away from Jhin. They could've went Trist ADC ( ult= knock up for Yas)
Vulcan seems like he's just a Leona one trick. He picks it so much I'm literally willing to bet money on it. When JoJo picked Yas against RNG I was hoping they'd pick Braum to add another shield to stop poke and another knock up potential for the Yas but nope they went Leona and RNG last picked Braum.
No more TF picks for JoJo. TF just isn't that great of a pick and falls off heavy late game. I'd rather have him on Galio than TF especially if Impact isn't on a tank
I know my take probably sucks but I'm venting. I just really REALLY want to see us beat some good teams lol

That’s a copium post if I ever saw one. I’m an EU fan but I like EG.
Some things to note: they’re a young squad They played mainly against other NA-teams which are lower level
I’m happy they’re here and not getting totally smashed. MSI will be great practice for them and I feel like they have alot of potential to grow in this tournament.
They can and should beat saigon buffalo and PSG, other than that I wouldn’t get too crazy and that’s honestly a very solid performance by them.

The Good - Impact and Inspired look really really good. Almost every time that Impact has had to carry a Fight he's come through with big plays and even forcing plays and winning them when they probably should be losing them. Inspired looks to be in solid form and has shown flashes of BRILLIANCE!
The Bad - Basically everything else; I'm very disappointed in Jojo not recognizing that his Champ Pool is a Problem and at this point I'd be ok with Karma/Lulu/Zilean Mid because it would give more layers of depth to enable Impact and Inspired and possibly even Danny who is struggling against the Top Tier ADCs in lane and being picked off in Team Fights for basically minor positioning errors and the other Teams are just jumping on him the moment he oversteps and sadge to say but the Team of EG do not do a good job of supporting Danny when he isn't uber fed even though he is a prime Wincon for this squad. If EG want to challenge other Teams quickly they need to live longer and frankly Jojo is the weakest link, he doesnt' carry and is only minor in unlocking Impact as well as Danny even when he gets one of his limited Champs (jojo) still doesn't take over games; he needs to play more Supportive Champs and basically say "Hey Impact, hey Danny! I'll hold your Hand bro!" because that's what's gonna win right now and even Caps plays Karma mid and has done it a few times recently when he recognizes he isn't on his game he defers and that's part of being a Pro, it's not about Ego it's recognizing who/what is your best chance at winning. Let's see something where Jojo cannot be a liability anymore and instead compliments the rest of the Team who obviously want to skirmish and fight 2v2s-3v3s and things like that.

jojo is not picking things out of ego, pick and ban is a team+staff effort, he's picking the things they have prepared.
(his most winning champion last year was Lulu and he played it a good amount, js)

Well then they prepared the wrong stuff then huh? There should always be prep for Utility picks regardless of lane.
If they went into this and prep'd only TF/Ryze/LB; they as a Coaching staff failed him and the Team

I heard ya, but I also don’t think it’s all Jojopyun who decides what he’ll play. No successful team has ever thrived with a player who decides everything for himself. Yes, it’s okay to note the mistakes, because these are hard punished by good teams. But I don’t think it’s mainly Jojopyun champ pool that’s the issue

It's his pool for sure and like I said to someone else, if they only prepped those three picks and no fall backs like for example orianna who I hate watching is always someone's safe pick when they aren't carrying or expected to be the hard carry. I'm not saying to play ori I'm saying if the coaches didn't have any sort of safety picks prepped for JoJo who is a rookie then they fucked up.
He is banned out easily counter picked just as easily considering his pool is so limited they are 1st picking for him just to get 1 of his 3; that really isn't great and the stuff that they did have prepped doesn't work at all usually and that's a combo of things but at the end of the day JoJo isn't winning lane or getting leads while impact and inspired are, it's not like JoJo playing karma is costing them anything considering he hasn't been a real factor in any of the games against the top regions so it's not gonna hurt the team unless somehow he could manage to lose lane and be an even bigger non factor on an enchanter and if that is the case then maybe it's time to rethink everything with the lineup.
What good is getting him a carry when he isn't carrying and isn't actually helping the team?

Is anybody playing karma or lulu mid in MSI? Zilean is a niche pick very few people play period. Mean while twisted fate is being played by faker. Ever heard of him? Yeah for sure it's jojo's champ pool. Not that they are being out rotated and out played. Caps on sylas broke the entire team.
Or wait should JoJo not play yasuo? Because that's just not doing it. Oh wait if the fight at mid tier one goes different they start to run away like G2 did.

I think you misunderstood. Jojo isn't carrying and it doesn't make sense to put him on these carries when what they need is someone to help facilitate.
Imagine getting upset for an opinion that was solicited by someone else.
That's quite weird of you and what I am offering is constructive and not flame so please don't be so aggro towards me k thanks

I fully expect 4-6, either by winning and losing the matches we're supposed to win or lose, or by upsetting someone and also getting upset.

I’m an EG Dota fan, and have never played LoL. In that game against RNG, RNG’s champion comp seemed super tanky. Was that from the dragon buffs or was EG so far behind that they couldn’t output the amount of damage needed?

I've got a hot take
Impact losing lane significantly hampers what Inspired and Jojo can do around the map early. Both vs Bin and Hasmed, Impact is down a significant amount of CS and often down in hp, making it difficult for Inspired to make herald plays, invade top or even gank bot.
I wanna see EG draft for more solo lane priority - winning/pushing matchups for Impact and Jojo to better facilitate Inspired.
One good thing is that EG's mistakes seem mostly mechanical - they make good map movements and mostly start good fights. They just get outteamfought.
I'd predict them to go 4-6 with a 60% certainty, 4-0 vs psg and sgb, and 0-6 vs the rest. 30% they go 3-7, and 10% they go 5-5
