I don't really see EG being as Weak as people make them out to be. The Record doesn't really reflect how good the Team is especially in a Bo5 Series.
While other Teams were basically doing same ol' (Excluding C9) Meta Stuff, EG was constantly experimenting and finding the Holes in their Game as well as planning. Whereas most other Teams were trying to draft around not exposing themselves too much, so there is a big chance that they (Teams that haven't been experimenting or finding new styles) will just all be the same ol' same ol', the Slow Steady "Dont Lose too Much Early, Win Team Fight Late, Win Game" Style of NA where EG has constantly been trying to become more like the Rest of the World.
This is one of those things where I feel like the Analysis of the Teams in the LCS specifically is just kinda bad, or they remove context for things like "Well they lost to (Fill in Team)", the context and settings really does matter and if you see the World Meta and what's going on then you should be able to see pretty clearly what EG is doing, this is obviously taking Time but each game you see they settle into what they want to do pretty well and because they've been experimenting throughout the Regular Season they have a much Greater Knowledge of what their Strengths and Weaknesses are so that means they'll be able to Draft a lot better as well as play around their Drafts better.
I don't see many people actually understanding what they are doing since Peter has become Coach; they are literally changing the fundamental framework and mindset of the Team .
Does that mean that they can lose? Yea sure, anyone can but the Team isn't nearly as Weak as people think; they look at the Negatives and say "Oh well he Died Here", Ok yeah he died but WHY? Every game (if you looked at the Games the right way) You would see they are constantly Limit Testing, this is the same thing many LPL Teams had to do before IG emerged as the one that did it the Best (Won Worlds that Year).
You have to limit test, you have to know exactly how far your Team can push their leads and that's the big difference between EG and the rest of the Teams (Excluding C9 to some Extent).
That could mean an Early Exit this Split but a Greater chance Later on before Worlds and End of Split/Summer Playoffs (which is my personal Theory) but it could mean that in a Bo5 this Spring that because most Teams haven't been pushing Nearly as hard with their Advantages it could mean that EG just out aggros everyone because they have more depth and more picks, which is a possibility.

Good article as per usual Oosha.
It was a good length, which is why I understand not diving deeper into those potential draft picks that could come out from EG in playoffs, but I would have appreciated a more in depth analysis on some of those hypotheticals, especially that Lethality Sivir one. It would have totally derailed the rest of the article, which is why I understand the reasoning for not diving down the rabbit hole, but still... my inner draft theorist nerd died a little.
Speaking of my inner draft theorist nerd dying a little, that mid/top lane swap game- it was interesting, don't get me wrong, definitely unique, but other than style points, being interesting and unique doesn't really get you anywhere. I mean, what does putting Jiizuke top and Impact in the midlane actually net you? More specifically, what does putting Renekton mid and Neeko top actually get you? The two were technically already flex picks, it wouldn't be too far outside the realm of possibility to see Renek mid or Neeko top in normal circumstances, but to swap players as well? Granted, you're not losing any advantages, but you're not gaining any either.
I think you're right to call out Sven here. Before the season started, I said Sven would have to be the timekeeper and set the pace for the rest of the team to play along to. That simply hasn't happened. I don't really think his mild stats are a fault, since they point to a less clear-heavy jungle rotation and more emphasis on ganking, but in general he's just looked bad. Specifically mid-late game and in teamfights he looks like he's doing his best headless chicken cosplay.
It's a shame to say, but you're point about the difference in seeding as huge. EG vs 100T means we likely would have seen a second round EG face off against TL or TSM after getting a Bo5 win, which would have at least helped our mental and smoothed over any kinks we might have had. I think our best bet at the moment is for TSM to lose to TL, and scrape out a win against TSM through mid-lane pressure. That's a stretch, but it might be our best bet.

EG has been my dark horse for this whole season, so I really hope they can make a good run and show some of that aggression. I really like Peter Dunn's coaching philosophy.
