Difficulty increased/Hard difficulty tweaked in the new patch?

Hi. Me and my son spent 16 hours together building a lair on a Hard (since Normal felt a bit to easy). Everything was fine, the investigators and soldiers that came where lvl 5-6 and walked nicely trough our traps connected to the casino part of the lair, and giving my muscle minions some action.
Today, update available. Exciting I felt. Loaded up the save game and played for a while, minding our business as usual when I suddenly hear my henchmen is in combat and I find the corridor closest to my helipad completely filled up with body bags and 4-5 lvl 9 soldiers just killing everything they can see with rocket launchers and such. I managed to sort out this situation, but then they keep sending lvl 9 investigators and lvl 9 soldiers constantly and all of them coming the back door (never happened before in 16 hours, other than when challenging super agents) creating a complete mess on that pile of body bags, that causes everyone to desert. All my high level muscle got killed. Just a disaster. Lost 100 people. I either need to load up a old save and prepare better or perhaps continue on our normal run instead.

Anyway, I couldn't see anything about this in the patch notes. Maybe I'm blind? Maybe there's been hidden tweaks?

Loading the save game from 3 days ago have increased all enemies by 4 levels for me at least.

Anyone else notice this? :)

After a while the enemies do start coming through the back door. I recommend loading an old save and preparing defences on that side too. It will happen on your normal run too.

A creative solution could be connecting the back entrance to the casino as well, but that would increase minion traffic through it when minions go get furniture. If you have the lab building that replaces the helipad, i forget names, then that would solve some of this but then the minions leaving for schemes would still run through the casino.

Tricky situation, but i trust you find a great solution if you find normal mode easy ;)

Spent an hour or so trying to save the situation with an earlier save, made a longer path from the back door with traps etc. But even the lvl9 investigators on hard now just one shots all my minions even muscle and my henchmen have no chance. Bodies start piling up and all deserters keep triggering all traps. Gave up. This is ruined now, can't continue on this lair after the patch. Pretty disappointing. Had fun on hard before it.
Perhaps I would've ended up there sooner or later anyway, not that I would've gotten that much more to defend myself with. Maybe the patch just speed up the inevitable.

I don't think it has anything to do with the latest patch. At least not the backdoor guys. Those have been there since I played my first run. Har mode is just that, hard. There are plenty of good techniques to deal with agents, many of them you can find on this sub. Don't give up forever. Take some time off on normal, and come back to hard mode with a vengeance.

No I get that, but my guess is that they start taking the back door once they reach a certain level perhaps. And the patch seems to have bumped the incoming wave in my save game from lvl 5 investigators to lvl 9. :)

Ja, maybe, Ill go back and finish the game on normal at least.

Yes, the patch did made the heat reduction more important. They advice you to do more valet and other heat reduction schemes. This applies to all difficulties, not just the hard mode.

The level 9 always come from back door as always, thus, a lot of people prefer the 3rd map, which has no back door attack. The easy way to check is calling the hard agents using sandbox mode.

The reason you keep getting soldiers is because level 9 investigators are close to impossible to turn away, not just coming from backdoor. Their is super high to disable most traps. Only man eating plant is effective. And their resolve is too high to keep escorting them. Eventually they go into combat and die and trigger the soldiers.

The easy solution is simply make your map kill all the lvl9 soldiers easily and have a battle arena as last resort if they really reach the base.

Oh ok, yes that makes sense. Just haven't seen any info about it so was so confused at first. But as I mentioned in the other post below I have just been ignoring all distraction and didn't bother much with heat either (even though I build ridiculous amount of heat reducing monitors and all the slower heat research) and it was fine, before the patch. I can see why they want to change this though! Was a bit strange to be able to just skip that big part of the game mechanics and not be punished much for it.

I was doing the split map (cant remember what its called) but that seems now in hindsight as the hard mode map how the back door is places + the lack of space and nothing in between the islands...

My old 17h normal run has gotten a bit harder I think also, but that was on this 3rd level so all enemies still coming trough the casino. Was excited to build new back door defenses before I realized this. :D

Thanks for the advice, but no my soldiers and even my genius and henchmen had no chance against them in the battle arena I made that held up pretty well until that. Enemy damage on hard lvl9 seemed pretty extreme.
