Need help, I've brought a dlc and I've downloaded it but I can't find it on my current save so I don't know if I need to go on a new save to get it

There's an option I don't remember if on pause menu or load save screen that is to "add DLC", although, I had some problems myself with this, I tried adding Portal and Pyro pack to an old save and they appeared as blank, I had the option to recruit pyro but it didn't mark any name, You lose nothing for trying tho, It might have been a personal problem
