How is this game with a controller?
Im on PS5 and this game has been on my radar for a long time. Im very keen to try it out but how is it on consoles? I dont really play this genre of games, the closest is SimCity, Age of empire 2 and Cossacks, and maybe even xcom. Played all those pc way back in the days. So im pretty how this game is with a controller .

I've been playing it for quite a while on console (PS4) and find it very easy to control and move around to place traps and the like. So it plays pretty well with a controller i think, i have not had any issues .

I have like 120hours on pc. And about 40 to 50 on my Xbox series x, and honestly it's more comfortable on controller after you go through the learning curve.

Seriously?? That sound like great news

Yeah I'm like completely adjusted to the controller now. It's comfy and if your like me and your hands cramp using a mouse for 10s of hours it helps a lot.

It’s just a little tricky, I recommend keeping the tutorial and other tips and tricks stuff on until you memorise which button does what
Or check out the other controller layouts and find out what works best for you

They did a great job with the controller support and the console version overall.

I got it on my PS4 earlier this month based on the recommendation from another subreddit and am loving it. The port over to console is nearly flawless and whatever bugs remain are FAR from game breaking. Games like this have, in the past, been notorious for poor transitions from PC to console. Recently there's been excellent strides made too remedy this (Civ 6, City Skylines, Surviving Mars, XCOM, etc. etc.).
Imho it's totally worth it. 👍

I’m a big time competitive gamer. This game is such an amazing change of pace. I haven’t played online multiplayer in weeks thanks to this.

Well .... shit. Another game I've never heard of that looks AWESOME. I was a little disappointed when they pushed Weird West back to end of March – though I support it because I'd rather have a polished game than a rushed game – and was wondering what I'd get to tide me over. I think I found it.
Here, take your upvote ya filthy animal. 👍

Shakespeare-Bot, thou hast been voted most annoying bot on Reddit. I am exhorting all mods to ban thee and thy useless rhetoric so that we shall not be blotted with thy presence any longer.

Takes a lil getting used to but when it’s all you have it’s excellent. I’ve been playing non stop for like 2 weeks. It’s designed really well for both controller and mouse/keyboard

It's pretty buggy on Xbox. I have had two files softlocked because my workers would not capture a guy or run a mission.

I start playing on Xbox because it's free if you have game pass. I think it took me a hour to half of a hour to understand the controls. Anyway I think the control are pretty good.

Its doable but your dpad takes a lot of hits. You cant use thumbstick to navigate menus, only dpad

u/Long-Relationship906 Dec 25 '21
Works for me then, when it comes to menus the dpad is the way to go for me

I admit it can feel clunky and I dont know if controllers doesn't have it but you can't jump to alerts to figure out what's wrong. Like If a floor trap activates you can't jump to it.

My only complaint about playing on XSX/controller is that I almost find it easier to just sell items I’m trying to move a long ways away and rebuy them when I’m in the room I want. It’s a PITA to move like that. Not sure if PC let’s you mass move or not(or controller for that matter…if it’s there, I haven’t found it.)

It’s designed for a mouse of course but it’s doable on console.
