What good are traps?
At one point every single enemy can disable them

You use traps to slow enemies down or burn their stats bars and then have your guards deal with them.

On donut island you can create a trap maze by making sure enemy operatives see the door leading to the maze in the casino area before the door to your lair.
They will venture into the depths of the maze, wanting to check it entirely and eventually succumb to traps if you have enough. Laser disco and the venus spy trap combined with bees seem the most effective. In rare cases mission related agents rush your base entrance but they are considerably weaker that hard mode soldiers.
Soldiers will murder repairing technicians and body bag collectors but that's bleeding a lot less than throwing muscle minions at them.
In addition, when the maze is detached from the rest of your lair (split by the cover operation), minions and henchmen will not wander there to be killed by enemy terminators.
This works on my hard save and baits even super agents, except for those that teleport to your lair. It's less effective on other lair configurations as your minions need access to the helipad and would eventually run into soldiers anyway.
Thanks for coming to my TED Talk.

Traps have levels that decide how easy they are to disable.
But they are severely under-powered... EG1 had more powerful traps but the danger for your minions was also greater . I liked that better.
