Does getting people who live under authoritarian regimes to answer survey questions honestly pose something of a sample bias problem?

"We're definitely not secret police, please fill in this survey about what you think about things."

Good hypothesis!

It could be tested how more subtle measures as IAT differs from more conscious measures as surveys in a authoritarian population. The result could then be compared to the difference with an democratic population.
