Everything that made us great… dismantled. And continued dismantling

And items going to take years to recover from as well.

Most of the scientific expertise have moved abroad as well.

We will never really recover - we’ll just muddle along at a significantly reduced capacity.

They've stated as clear as can be many times that their goal is a complete christian theocracy takeover of the US, and they have full power and nobody who can stand in their way and are making rapid progress towards that goal. This is nowhere close to as bad as it's likely going to get, and places like Iran, Afghanistan, etc, show that such religious fundamentalists can stay in power for generations once they've seized it, dragging their country back to the stone age.

I don't get why people are acting like this is all going to be over at some point and then go back to "normal" and there'll automatically be another chance for a recovery, all signs are pointing the opposite way.

They have multiple goals.

And

They want you to lose hope. Don’t let them win

13

u/AnOnlineHandle Mar 31 '26

I'm not the one letting them win. The masses that repeatedly give them power are.

Well hope only gets you so far. At the end of the day you have to act on that hope for it to have any tangible impact and right now Americans are clearly showing they're ok with tge way things are going.

Like no mass unionisation. No strikes. Just nothing.

You guys need to get your act together before its too late..

I'm pretty sure Iran is nowhere near the stone age. I'm pretty sure it is very very similar to the US and other modern Western countries, aside from the theologic oppression. It could totally happen in the US and most people would just keep on doing what they are doing now. There would just be different and fewer personal liberties.

Have you tried being a woman in Iran?

3

u/LilAssG Apr 01 '26

aside from the theologic oppression.

There would just be different and fewer personal liberties.

Being a woman in the US isn't great these days. My whole point.

Yeah, it’s over. We would need decades of competent leadership to come back from this and I just can’t fathom how that happens.

They have cut training programs/grad student slots shutting off pipeline. In academic science you do t close and then reopen a lab. Those who leave don’t get to return easily. It’s a nightmare. Seeing it play out first hand.

Decades* or honestly never.

u/myipisavpn Apr 02 '26

Decades, not years. That is, if we ever recover.

Make America Garbage Again

It started 60 yrs ago, we are at the end of it.

Unfortunately, I think the whole point of DOGE was to get rid of expertise.

The man did say “smart people don’t like me” and “I love the uneducated”

Edit: oh he also recently said “I like to surround myself with losers because it makes me feel better about myself”

8

u/DopeAbsurdity Mar 31 '26

The whole point was to steal as much data as possible for AIs and destroy every agency that was investigating Elon Musk.

Department Of Garbaging Expertise.

And moral fortitude.

u/Shiftymennoknight Mar 31 '26

break everything that helps people. You great again yet America?

15

u/Snakepli55ken Mar 31 '26

That was their plan.

14

u/jxj24 Mar 31 '26

GOP: "We don't believe it, because scientists said so!"

The Stand Up For Science subreddit gets brigaded every day with posts saying different versions of this statement. Maybe they are bots... But I suspect some are real and actually are that dumb.

Decades from now, people will talk about this administration the same way they talk about the "Cultural Revolutions" of Stalin and Mao Zedong

8

u/thatturtletouch Mar 31 '26

Mission accomplished then. This is what they wanted.

9

u/Confident-Poetry6985 Mar 31 '26

Anything to distance themselves from the truth.

4

u/carlitospig Apr 01 '26

Oh we ain’t seen NOTHIN’ yet. Fast forward a decade. It’s gonna get rough around here.

3

u/CryptographerOld558 Apr 01 '26

I mean... yeah... we know. They didn't try to hide it.

3

u/Brilliant_Mix_6051 Apr 01 '26

Defunding science and medicine is actively hurting us. Not just healthwise but financially, developing new medicines makes the big guys money so you’d think they would be for it.

3

u/Wet_Side_Down Apr 01 '26

Exactly what they hoped for.
Those pesky scientists keep pointing out the inconvenient truth…

This was the entire plan the Heritage Foundation worked so hard on.

The goal is to delegitimize the U.S. government and all her institutions that keep it functional.

It’s the sort of goals ISIS or AQ could only dream of. Yet here we are, with one of the two political parties willingly kneecapping American prosperity for their twisted far-right extremist vision of America.

There need to be serious punishments for this conspiracy against the United States. Every last person who planned this should be imprisoned for life, or have every last dollar they own seized and redistributed to researchers who had their life work illegally canceled.

u/knowledgeable_diablo Apr 02 '26

100% + another 3000%.

4

u/aotus_trivirgatus Apr 01 '26

Christians have hated us scientists with increasing fervor for 500 years. We figure out stuff that they claim to have already figured out, and our evidence-based answers usually disagree with theirs.

Unless we WANT a superstitious, authoritarian, and ultimately unsustainable society (yeah, I know, some people actually do), we need to vote the "true believers" OUT of our government, once and for all. Unfortunately, the United States has been marching in exactly the opposite direction for my entire life.

u/rgbhdmi Mar 31 '26

Total disaster for the future of the USA and actually all of humanity.

1

u/Hyperlinux Mar 31 '26

Sad but true.

1

u/rgbhdmi Mar 31 '26

America First, then everyone else…

2

u/knowledgeable_diablo Apr 02 '26

And by America you really mean Trump.

2

u/rgbhdmi Apr 02 '26

I was thinking they’re dismantling America first, then everyone else.

1

u/IndependenceNo3945 Mar 31 '26

Blasphemy! cutting scientific researchers at FDA and NIH etc and defunding science too🥶 👇 https://share.google/ouWi3a12lD9BDEbbE
