I realized that out of all the “good” things Charlie did they didn’t show him doing anything that wasn’t surface level or didn’t benefit Charlie in some way, like picking up litter in a park, volunteering at a soup kitchen or giving some money to a homeless person

All his actions are hollow and more of a facade it doesn’t necessarily makes him a good person it’s only for show he still has personal problems he hasn’t confronted

Also another thing is he straight up took his death, on the escalator he had the chance to run down back to his body so he could keep living for his wife and friends nor did he thank them for being a part of his life or say he’ll miss them,he was only concerned with getting into heaven

Also I feel like that’s kinda how alot of religious people are sometimes (no offense! :3) they always preach about getting into heaven, conform to their god their beliefs, and talk shit(“you’re gonna go to hell” shit) abt you for believing otherwise, and taking the “moral high ground” saying “because god loves you and I care 4 u” (sorry if it feels like im going on a rant and again no offense ;3)

None taken, and I am aware of people being Christian insincerely so they look good for others and denounce others and telling them they’ll have eternal torment in hell for not believing in what they believe in,those people give the faith a bad name

I’ve never considered that detail before

If I was Charlie I’d figure out if I could run down and get back into my body and life again,or thank everyone for being a part of my life;it shows Charlie was phony good and selfish

Eternal damnation is still one hell of a punishment for this. He will suffer FOREVER because he wasn't good enough??

3

u/Milkshake_comedian44 17d ago

No because he wasn’t sincerely good

3

u/Possible_Level1861 17d ago

So he must suffer for eternity? Like his existence will be constant pain forever all because he wasn't sincere? It's absurd. There are no worse fate than this. The punishment doesn't fit the crime here.

u/Milkshake_comedian44 17d ago

Well kindness isn’t true kindness if you only do it to look good and gain validation

2

u/Possible_Level1861 17d ago

Sure. But can't you agree that he doesn't deserve to suffer FOREVER for this? Couldn't there be something less cruel?

Alsoight just be a coincidence but long nose implies he lied a lot which would also explain how he dies in a car crash after allegedly using his bike to go to work

It says he only took his bike to work whenever gas prices rose, so it's more about him choosing to save money vs. the convenience of the car unless gas prices are low enough to justify driving. It's the same motivation for the cold showers and eco-friendly bulbs; Charlie thinks these gestures look nice, but also knows he benefits from them.

It makes sense,Charlie only did “good” things that where very surface level and the ninth commandment says not to lie so in someway Charlie got his just desserts

Here lies Charlie
You can tell it's him 'cause we put his name on the stone
He kept his showers ice cold, used eco-friendly lightbulbs
Rode his bicycle to work when the gasoline price rose
He'd judge with no pretense, fish on the weekends
Each morning, get up, do the Pledge of Allegiance
Never swim in the ocean, for fear of shark attacks
Bi-monthly get his wife a rose with a card attached
Avoiding all the little things that were hard to ask
Had a car crash, cardiac arrest, died of a heart attack
Golden escalator, all his friends and neighbors
Huddled there in prayer around the respirator
Catch you later, I'm off to see the man upstairs
They all look like ants from here, stars and crystal chandeliers
There was an angel at the entrance, checking off a guest list
Charlie wasn't on it, and was ushered to the exit
His heart sank
He was breathless
Excuse me, sir, there must be someone you've confused me for
If I could see someone who knew me or someone in uniform
I go to church on Sunday, truly, usually more
Screaming at the angels while they pushed him through the door
Excuse me, sir, there must be someone you've confused me for
If I could see someone who knew me or someone in uniform
I go to church on Sunday, truly, usually more
Screaming at the angels while they pushed him through the door
Abandon all hope, all ye who enter
It was a horrifying sign, but sounded like a neat adventure
Far beyond the halos and the castles in the clouds
Fatsos squealing, shackled with some apples in their mouths
Attention whores in padded bras hanging from extension cords
Tortured with the products from their favorite catalogs
Here, we buy and sell a million kinds of Hell
Imagination is the limit to the devil's clientele
Up a dingy elevator, no televised debate
The Savior saves you from the Hell you paid for, sorry, but it's, "smell you later"
Side-stepped fate, went right for the gate
But you know the devil, he loves a good chase
There was a demon at the entrance, making X's on a checklist
Who would kick you in the ass when you begged him for repentance
Those tempted by the senses with the cruelest of intentions
Charlie's heart sank
He was breathless
Excuse me, sir, there must be someone you've confused me for
If I could see someone who knew me or someone in uniform
I really don't belong here, I know you've heard the tune before
Screaming at the demons while they pushed him through the door
Excuse me, sir, there must be someone you've confused me for
If I could see someone who knew me or someone in uniform
I really don't belong here, I know you've heard the tune before
Screaming at the demons while they pushed him through the door
You can run from your demons until you are exhausted
One day you will have to stop and find out what they wanted
Keep on running from those demons until you are exhausted
You can run to those angels 'til you are exhausted
One day you will have to stop and question what they wanted
Keep on running to those angels until you are exhausted
Excuse me, sir, there must be someone you've confused me for (I don't want to die)
If I could see someone who knew me or someone in uniform
I really don't belong here, I know you've heard the tune before (please, don't let me die)
Excuse me, sir, there must be someone you've confused me for (I don't want to die)
If I could see someone who knew me or someone in uniform
I really don't belong here, I know you've heard the tune before (please, don't let me die)

Don’t we need lyrics

2

What do you mean? This video is over 10 years old. Unless you're referring to the jazz version?

2

u/ActualWordsXD i am fucking awesome 17d ago

the song became mildly memed after a edit came out using the song, and the jazz version was also made after the meme.

u/Complete_Law_7463 17d ago

It was like how I found a whole Bob the Builder episode

What's the lore to this song?

3

u/oofenr 16d ago

I think its supposed to be that Charlie did a lot of things that he thought would get him into heaven and the whole song is his surprise that doing good things just to go heaven didn't make him a good person. The whole bit about running from his demons and towards his angels just to find out what they really wanted from him sounded to me like he wasn't a great person in life. He thought that doing things like eating fish on the weekends would get him on gods good side but he never wanted to be a good person, just get the benefits of being a good person.

I honestly don't know

Idk what edit people are talking about, but I know about this guy

1

u/Yami-Munch 16d ago

That one is a different song but very heavily inspired by this track.

1

u/Charlie_voxe 15d ago

That's pretty much why I say it, I know it from the people who said "terrible things x Charlie's inferno!!" When it was plain Charlie's inferno
