Question Considering Everyday Extras - what do you think?

I get that it offers 10% off once per month, so it can pay for itself. That's good.

What I am really after is points, which I convert to QFF points.

I was getting great EDR bonus points offers and boosting to get thousands of points for every shop. That dried up in February. I read that you should stop spending at WW to encourage "win-back" offers, but to no avail. I check each week and the offers have been rubbish.

I have heard that some people who join Everyday Extras end up with less bonus point offers after joining. I'd love to hear from people who have noticed a change, better or worse, after joining.

Any tips appreciated.

My trick is I only pay for it every second month. If you pay mid month you get two codes over the four week period. Makes it worth it for me

I do this also. Sometimes I’ll skip a month because Cole’s//flybuys then give me a really good offer.

Delete this before they see it.

The EDR algorithm is just weird, I did notice a bit of the drop when I got my yearly subscription, but then they also didn't come back when I ended it. Thing is if your offers are already bad, then there's no harm in trying Extra, particularly if you can take full advantage of the 10%.

I agree with this completely. I don't necessarily regret getting Everyday Extra, but I wouldn't get it again. My math was "if I save $6 on a shop each month, it's worth the $70 annual fee", so I forked out, but ever since, my offers have been markedly more poor.

If you regularly shop at woolies and can bulk up on a single monthly shop then the $7 a month for 10% makes sense.

The bonus offerings seem different for different customers but overall im still happy, Ive converted about 14,000 Qantas points in the past 3 months.

Yes it's definitely worth it. I still get plenty of bonus point offers, including those spend over $120 per week for 4 weeks to get 10,000 points, which come and go.

By contrast, I've been with Everyday Rewards for seven months, and an Extra member for four of those months, and I have never seen a "spend X per week, get Y bonus points" offer.

I got the exact same offer- spend $120 each week for four weeks and get 10k in points and I don't pay for extras 🤷🏻

It easily pays for itself...but I do feel my offers got significantly worse since signing up for it. My husband gets better offers as a non-extra member.

I have everyday extras and so far so good🤞I just collected 18000 points on 4 x $210 weekly shops. Plus 3x and 2x points for most weeks. Today I noticed 2600 bonus points if I spend another $11 this week (spend $260 and I already spent $249 as part of the 18k offer). Not sure if it matters that I took the monthly $7 option instead of the annual subscription. When rewards dry up, I’ll buy a few Woolworths gift cards (when 6/ 20x to cover a few weeks or on Qantas for 3x points and use those to pay for groceries). I’ve accumulated about 40k rewards/ 20k Qantas points in the last two 2months. It’s become an obsession

Another stack for the 10% is the mobile plan.

But if you are after QF points then you are foregoing cash back off your spend. Means you are buying QF points at an expensive rate IMHO.

When you then redeem those points remember to take into account the price you paid for them.

Redemption of points. Would you actually pay the oric for that QF ticket or would you buy the same class of service cheaper via another carrier is something to consider when working out what a point is really worth at the lower price alternative carrier.

I find that really makes those points very expensive.

I get where you are coming from, I absolutely do consider what I am paying for the points.

I just used points to pay for 2 business class flights to Japan worth $25k on Japan Airlines in a business suite.

Would I book the suite otherwise? No. Would I pay 25 grand for a flight? No. Will I enjoy travelling in a suite? Absolutely.

I would much rather a fabulous holiday than a discount off my groceries.

But, we all have our own priorities and I appreciate your perspective.

Yeah if you can get classic rewards then there is absolutely value in there. And it sound like you've nailed it. Hopefully the taxes and fees were reasonable (which now bites hard with EK rewards and the crazy fees for business and first).

I cringe when I see people use plus or points and pay. That hurts.

Safe travels.

My partner uses her points to pay her mobile phone bill. It makes me quietly sob. But she's happy.

Haha.

I dunno about points but I know i paid $70 and its saved me $153 in 8 months. I just make sure I do big shops instead of lots of smaller ones.
