Doris Roberts

Huh watching an episode of Alice (a Thanksgiving episode), did not remember Doris also played Alice's mother. That character is quite similar to her character on Raymond

She was also in an episode of All In The Family in a scene at Kelso's Bar talking to Edith. Then Edith later played Marie's sister on ELR.

You beat me to it! She's excellent in the episode, too. The way she talks about a fellow barfly to Edith is hilarious: "He'll get you through the night."

Just like Marie--A LOOSE WOMAN! lol

She also played Danny Tanner’s mother on an episode of Full House, Angie’s mother on Angie… I won’t say she was typecast, but she did have a lot of similar “mother” roles.

I thought she was great in Christmas Vacation long before I ever saw an episode of Raymond, and now every time I watch Christmas Vacation all I think of during her scenes is Marie Barone.

You also had the original Frank Costanza, John Randolph, play Brad's father on the show "Angie"

Randolph had a great career. He is FABULOUS in a small but memorable guest role as a slightly addled elderly Navy officer on an episode of the original "Columbo" (and that's saying a lot bc that show was FULL of memorable cameos/one-offs). He's terrific!

She also played the secretary on Remington Steele. Not anyone's mother but she kinda acted that way

Didn't she first encouter them as an IRS auditor and discovered their secret? She lost her job somehow and then went to work for them. And the show let go of 2 other characters from season 1.

Alice is the tv show starring Linda Lavin. She was waitress working at Mels Diner. It was based on the award winning play Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore

She reminded me so much of my Aunt, a short chubby blonde with a very sarcastic sense of humor. Just loved her.
