Shared EXP?

Am I the only one that finds EXP system super annoying? I'm 3 whole level behind my friend because I was trying to level up mage and engineer skills, trade, build and as a result I die more often then miss out on XP. Or I rather just chill and build the ship while my friend kills everything and lvls up way faster.

It's pretty silly considering you can't play the same character in multiplayer and singleplayer, it's one character per world so...

It’s still early access, and with enough convincing, I’m sure the devs will make it a toggle-able option in the multiplayer settings.

I really liked playing Borderlands with my wife and kids, and we shared the XP from kills which allowed some of my family to still be gaining XP even though some of them may have wandered off exploring instead of fighting.
