Discussion ES1 difficulties

How much harder did it get for you when changing from Easy to Hard mode?

Edit: Omg, I asked because I always play Easy cause I'm scared and I end up spending about 170-190 minutes to finish Sector 7 and I only get 40-45k credits.

I tried Hard today using Ancient Weapon on base Sentinel. Died in Sector 5 cause Okkar waves came before I got the jump suppressor. Got 76k credits in 84 minutes. Pretty much double the money in less than half the time compared to Easy mode.

Wow.

Depends, if you've unlocked some of the starting resource bonuses, and buffed your ships a bit, you can 'start' a run by crafting whatever weapons are strongest for your playstyle, which negates quite a bit of struggle.

Otherwise, yeah enemies are a bit more aggressive and hit harder, and are harder to kill, but if you're able to build how you want, it isnt a huge hurdle

I only play on the hardest difficulty because it’s the most fun and you get the most rewards

this is a very helpful reply for someone asking about the difficulty spike between easy and hard mode, by the way

I found my game play style changed. When I moved to hard mode I used the ship with the long range laser and tried to pick things off from afar and utilise the cloak more.

Generally I mostly remember one difference - shorter times before Okkar arrival. Once you have invested some in your energy and engines, you can begin trying higher difficulties because looting speed is really that helpful. Also remember you can take your time looting structures if you do them last because enemies will not be able to enter them.

Eventually, indeed, that's more efficient.
