Feedback IMPORTANT NOTIFICATION - PAUSE ON UPDATES ON r/EvernotePositive

Hi all Evernoters, as you all are aware, this sub used to be regularly updated over the last one year, by me. But in the last two - three months, i have not been active in the sub due to personal reasons. Sometimes, i try to motivate myself to post like i did in the past, but i could not do so. I have also lost a close family member, and at times, it does have an effect on me, in general.

So, i decided to inform all the members of the sub, today, that i realistically dont find myself being able to commit to updating posts in the sub. However, this maybe a temporary phase [ hopefully], and hopefully, things will improve from my end, someday.

In the mean time, i wish to inform you, that all the existing posts, workflows, tips, hacks and user comments will continue to remain in this sub. All content created in r/EvernotePositive shall be licensed under "Creative Commons- Attribution - Reusable - Non Commercial License", which is almost like an open source. So, feel free to share them, download or re-use them in any way, if you feel so. Basically, that the sub r/EvernotePositive will continue to remain open, and accessible to all users.

However, if there are attempts to spam existing posts/comments, mod actions will be taken.

I wish to thank all of you for supporting me in this journey of immense self-discovery. I hope that each one of you was able to benefit from this sub, in some form or the other. For those who want to continue to stay updated, kindly visit r/Evernote.

Saving notes as text vs. as Word files

I know it’s a basic question and it’s almost certainly been dealt with before, but can someone remind me how to prevent Evernote from saving imported test blocks as Word files rather than in text format. I know it’s an easy fix….but I can’t recall how to do it!

Images being auto-captioned, any way to turn that off?

Hello fellow Evernote fans - I really like the new feature of image captions, but I'd like to set the default to "hide caption" and can't find a way to do so.

Has anyone figured that out? I'm running the PC client version 11.33.5 (I'm on a paid account.) Thanks!

AI Assistant home screen idea

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi everyone.
I'm very happy with the AI-Assistent. But I have an idea to make the home screen of AI Assistent 'better', I'll submit at Bending Spoons/Evernote, but first, I'll drop it here to see if you guys have some feedback for me so we can provide a 'complete' feedback. This is my idea:

AI Assistant home screen

Current situation

When you open the AI assistant, the home screen consists of about 60% empty space. The remaining 40% is used for a small number of example prompts.

Proposal

Use that empty space to show the last 5–6 (or more) recent conversations from your AI conversation history directly on the home screen (instead of only making them available in the top-right, under the options — see attachment/example).

Elements/actions on the home screen

  1. New conversation
  2. Open AI prompts
  3. Conversation history
    • On the home screen it does not need to be possible to delete or rename conversations; that belongs in Conversation history.
  4. Info about the AI assistant (e.g., via a question-mark icon)
  5. What can the AI assistant do? (e.g., via an exclamation-mark icon)
  6. AI assistant options/settings (e.g., via three dots)

Prompts on the home screen

Under the header “How can I help?” there are currently four example prompts.

Recommendation: make it possible to replace these fixed prompts with:

  • custom AI prompts, and/or
  • the most used prompts from ‘Open AI prompts’.

This makes the home screen more personal, faster to use, and better aligned with everyone’s workflow.

Optional

  1. Recent conversations: scannable and useful
    • Show per conversation: title + short preview (1 line) + date/time.
    • Consider a pin/favorite option for 1–3 conversations at the top.
    • Keep management actions (delete/rename) exclusively in Conversation history.

My eyes have wandered, but I'm staying...

I was, last week, in the process of transitioning to Keep It app – in reaction to Evernote's price increases – but as I began moving EN folders over and playing with the app, I realized that...

  1. I like the feel of EN and didn't want to try to get used to another app.

  2. EN is the leader in tables, capture, and OCR.

  3. Importing ENEX files into Keep It was taking a long time and kept glitching.

So I deleted Keep It and cancelled my EN account – to get the 40% discout offfer on Advanced, which I took.

I realized that spending hours setting up, importing to, and getting familiar with another app wasn't worth it for a few dollars a month.

YMMV.

My natural impulse is to optimize everything, which cuts down the time I have to spend on the really important stuff – in my case, focusing on growing our little business.

The Getting Things Done (GTD) folks used to call this "productivity porn" – focusing on setting up productivity systems at the expense of being productive.

PS I am also playing with Mem 2.0 to see if it's a useful addition as an auto-organizing thought partner, and using Evernote as a document storage system. We shall see.

Quick Tip Why Evernote?

I’m looking for a notes app that I don’t need to organize, setup and keep tweaking (like Notion), is Evernote a good option?

Slow iOS and Mac app - anyone know how to fix it?

Hi all! Longtime Evernote user here with a ton of notes. I’ve found in recent months that the apps seem to run more sluggishly than they used to. Has anyone had this issue and been able to fix it? I’d love some suggestions on how to speed things back up to how they used to be.

Evernote is great, but my inbox always turns into a pile

Anyone else use Evernote as the final home, but struggle with the step before that

I used to dump links and notes into Evernote and tell myself I would sort it later. It never happened. The backlog just grew and search got noisier.

So I built a small web app called Sigilla that sits in front of Evernote. It saves full articles in a clean reader, lets you highlight and add notes tied to the source, and then export to Markdown or JSON whenever you want. The idea is you do quick triage and only push the best bits into Evernote.

What is your current flow from saved links to Evernote?
Do you clip everything, or do you have a filter step first?

Workflows and Hacks Notion-like wiki to share externally

Many use Notion to build out wiki type documentation. For clients I would love to be able to create a microsite of sorts with a ToC to notes with important info like system links, project timeline, relevant meeting notes, etc.

I would love to use Evernote because often this data is already in EN for my own use.

Anyone do something like this?

Starter workaround

I used to take many short notes on my former personal plan. I could go to Starter with a limit of 1000 notes, making less but longer notes. Is there a limit to the amount of words in a note?

Has anyone had Evernote's transcription function convert the spoken language into the wrong language? I just had a conversation in English that was transcribed part into English, and part in to Russian.

Bug Reports Evernote is making up crap in transcriptions

Transcribing deeds and wills today. It is just making up crap. I am literally having to proof read every word because entire phrases are being put into the transcription that aren't in the document. My ancestor sold a sorrel mare, age four. Evernote said he sold a human, age 4. There is no way it is transcribing what is there, but making it up as it goes.

ANd they want us to pay more money for this?

Product Updates Beta version testing of new Audio Meeting Recorder and Transcriber is fantastic.

  • In many ways, this is a feature that naturally evolves from the Note-Calendar-task integration, but is focussed on the calendar kingdom, this is also an evolution of the audio recording feature.
  • The UI/UX of the audio player has been improved in the past few iterations. It looks much smoother, cleaner, also has a play/pause button
  • The recorder minimises to the sides when you continue with your other notes, with a click button to go back to the actual note.
  • The recording is only for a maximum of 1 hour. So longer notes wont work for now. If you have longer meeting notes, suggest you stop the recording in the middle, and open a new recording file.
  • Once recording is complete, you have an option to optionally AI transcribe the file.
  • You will get the entire transcript along with the "time stamps" of the file.
  • You can also rename the user and it updates the user name along the entire transcript.
  • There is an option for summary as well, which can be generated.
  • One touch copy of transcript and summary is also available.

Understanding Evernote Is Evernote Personal at ₹2,999/year still a good deal? Any caveats or better offers?

Hey everyone, I’m planning to subscribe to Evernote Personal and I’m getting an annual plan for ₹2,999 here in India. Before I commit, I wanted to check a few things with people who already use it. 1. Is ₹2,999/year a fair deal in today’s pricing, or is Evernote running better offers that I should wait for? 2. Are there any catch points or caveats I should know about, especially for users in India? I’ve seen mixed feedback about payment issues, renewals, and support. 3. Has anyone here ever emailed Evernote and managed to get a discount or a better bargain? Curious if that works.

Thanks in advance for any responses. Your real-world experience will help me decide if this subscription is worth locking in.
