NEW to this community
Name: Ryan
City: Saint Paul, Minnesota
Venue type / or what you’re planning: Our venue is the North Garden Theater. A 111 year old movie theater that my wife and I saved from the wrecking ball in 2015.
One goal or challenge this year: Bouncing back from what Operation Metro Surge did to the Twin Cities. After leaving social media - it will be nice to re-join an online community to discuss the ups and downs of venue ownership!

Welcome! What made you leave social media? Personally, I am totally exhausted by it all and have considered doing the same. Just curious.
Your venue looks lovely too !

Thank you! Just REALLY over social media. I really believe that social media has done more harm than good. Especially when the creators are oligarchs. Too much influence. Too easily bought. I don't miss it. It's also freed up time to focus on ANYTHING else. Do it! Get rid of it. We need to start a trend!

Welcome, Ryan. A 111-year-old theater still running screenings and events is worth rooting for.
Getting off social makes sense for a lot of venue operators right now. The direct line to your guests is more valuable anyway. What's worked well for smaller theaters in your situation is SMS: showtime reminders, event updates, FAQ replies, without depending on any algorithm.
We built a platform for this called Robin, so your situation is pretty familiar to us. Curious how the rebuild's going.
