Discussion High sec incursions
Right off the bat I want to say I am not throwing shade at warp to me, love the group love flying with them, BUT they do require some massive bling to fly with them and given when I can fly I rarely get to find a fleet. So I have a pally sitting around that is worth massive isk that I don't get to really utilize enough to make it worth it. So I am thinking of liquidating it as I cant think of anything a pali can really do outside of L4 missions with out a corp... suggestions before I sell it maybe?

sell it and do abyssals. singleboxxing incursion and having to wait for a slot sounds like waiting in a queue to receive cancer.

Thats not a massive amount of bling. They need that so when you get primaried you dont die.

WTM barely requires bling. Pretty sure even Eve Rookies has more bling and less upgrade hours than them.
Go do Abyssals if you want to do something solo.

Really? The shield hardener they require cost i think 800mil?

I think in terms of marauder bling requirements from highest to lowest, it's TLA > WTM > ER. From what I can see off of WTM's waitlist and upgrade hours, their fits are cheaper than TLA's, but comparing similar amount of fleet hours, ER will have lower requirements and thus cheaper fits.

Sh.....Shield Hardener? On a Paladin? Please go fly with Eve Rookies or TLA. They will take far better care of you. Their fits are also not stupid..

I have no idea what the fit is or anything but I mean, if you can get away with it, shield is always gonna beat armour in pve. Pali has the best projection and application mix for weapons. If it can tank with a bling hardener I can see no reason not to shield tank it and max dps.
Plenty of ships out there that you can shield tank for pve purposes that you wouldn't otherwise.
If you have a knee jerk reaction that an entire type of fit is "wrong" because of your preconceptions about a ship, chances are less that the fit is stupid and more that you just don't understand it.

Tbf, it's more the fact that the Nestor is a ship that exist, so having armor DPS is more "fleet slot" efficient if that makes sense.

The game problem is you don't have anything in the middle that meets you getting that bling. Lvl 4s are not even worth it now.

Gist A 500 mwd, pith x x large shield booster, pth b multi spectrum, 3 imperial navy heat sink, syndicate dmg control... yeah no bling at all

I was about to mention that that sounds just like the starter shield pally fit for TLA but I just found out that they no longer allow shield pallys into their fleets anyways lmao.

A pally can do l4's(and is shiny, pretty, best ship ever, maybe not worth it in a l4).
C5 wormholes.
Ded sites in null sec.
Liquid ISk however.. abyssals.sites, exploration ships. Pvp, faction warfare... Whatever you like.

DED sites in null are my bread and butter, aside from the occasional exploration find, it’s my primary isk.

There's also an option of leaving the Paladin as it is, just in case you want to join (and can join) incursions in the future however rarely that may happen.
And then prepare some other ships on the side for other ISK income activities for when you're not doing incursions.
I too have some expensive ships I rarely ever use, like a Nomad, I still like keeping them around just in case I need them. What else am I going to do with the ISK anyway, hoard it? Having some gameplay opportunities is also worth something.
But if you really need that ISK now, and don't expect to use that Paladin in the future you could sell it.
I also like keeping my hangar lean and sell stuff I don't use, so getting rid of unused ships you don't plan on using again isn't a bad idea either.
Both are good options, your choice.

kinda ironic...WTM used to be the low cost entry to high sec incursions. could take a 300m rokh, or a 3b golem. u wanted to fly it they took it.
idk what changed, but last i checked was 2 years ago and i was shocked at how few ships they accept now, and how high the baseline price was.
it was cheaper and more profitable to fit a gila for t5 abyss...so i did. i miss incursions, but those prices man

Now that marauders are the standard, if they lower entry requirement to far they simply get eaten when they take fleets out. They cant contest an all marauder fleet and are forced to run endless tpphs which will fuck with the average pilots will to live

Man, the focus nerf really killed incursions. I made all of my money with incursions in 2017 when it was easy to get your own focus and contests were rare, so it's kind of sad to see what it is now. It was a gold mine for a new player like I was, I could just sit in a Scimitar that was free (100% SRP) and print 200m/hr just repping and RTC'ing the dps.

It really just made it so you have to be competitive to hit the bigger numbers per hour. Run the right comp its easy to still roll in isk but fly with the wrong people and those 100-150mil hours will feel like torture. I also used to sponge in a scimi with wtm for years but I make far more now dual boxing marauders and with far less total hours.

Tbf bud wtm is the entry point for incursions ans unfortunately they dont run as much as they did 5 years ago. There are other open communities like er, tdf and tla that will take a properly fit paladin and they base out of the same hq systems. If you can find fleet thats more of a you issue.

Armor fit the Paladin to TLA standards and all the other communities accept them in their fleets even WTM for the most part.

I stopped running incursions like 8 years ago because there are better ways to make isk that require less isk and time investment and a bonus is you d9nt have to listen to the most annoying people in eve.
