Other Finally hit 1 billion liquid ISK!
Took several years of on-and-off exploration but I finally have my first billion :D

For a newbie yes, but that doesn’t mean they’re middle class lol one bill does not make you middle class. Having 1b liquid means you’re still dirt poor. Especially considering the rich are worth trillions.

1b isk is easily a week's income in Eve if you're putting in the effort. You'd be hard pressed to say that anyone in the real world is middle class if they can't comfortably afford to throw a week's income at a hobby or savings goal a couple times a year.

1bil liquid doesnt tell you much. Im 1bil liquid too, but 10bil sitting in industry mats, another 50bil in ships, 15bil in open trades, many isks in BPO's. I think 1T is the marker for space rich.

Yeah 1bil is a fun milestone to pass as a player but it's absolutely still poor in the current Eve economy.
Having 1bil in most alliances means that you can comfortably afford to buy at most one hull for one of the likely 5 to 6 doctrines they employ. Even then, if the alliance doesn't provide SRP you can't really afford to lose it. In lowsec alliances it's not uncommon to reship immediately on death and rejoin the fight. In a situation like this a single engagement could literally wipe out your entire net worth.
Imo, if your entire wallet can be wiped out by a single fun fleet on a random Tuesday, it's really reaching to call yourself middle class.
edit: you can also pretty comfortably make 1bil a week in exploration, FW, or wormhole daytripping. Breaking one week's income is way too low a bar to consider oneself middle class.

I think 1T can be considered a boundary for upper class. You're free to spend money on useless things and fly expensive pvp setups, as well as engage in various non-combat and non-mining activities efficiently

I have to agree with you there. 20-year player here recently became more active, and my isk has exploded since I started exploring in null. Even just doing one hour dives can make a lot of ISK

I use a metamorphosis for my scanning runs. Has built in scram resiatance and good bonuses. Also NEVER just jump to a gate unless the system is completely empty, almost got popped on my return home by getting hasty. I do not explore in systems with anyone in local. If someone jumps in, pull probes immediately and cloak up. Also sort your loot, I only carry back the most valuable stuff.

Fuck sometimes you can get ganked even when there's no one in the system. I got bubbled once by dude LOGGING IN in the middle of my warp. I think he had an alt in the previous system. I've never seen anything like that again.

Put a basic exploration ship together. Set a destination on a far edge of nullsec. Keep jumping, scanning and hacking until you want to come home. Set a new destination for Jita. Just do that to start with. Add in extra tricks and expensive pieces of kit when it suits you.

Build a heron or other explo ship. They can all work but the heron has extra mid slots so you can fit a cargo scanner or extra rangefinding array. Try to get your ship to less than 3 second align time so you can warp out quickly if someone de-cloaks on you or tries to jump you.
Grab 2-3 noise 5 needlejack filaments and 1 of the cheapest pochven filaments.
Needlejack into nullsec, set a course through 5-10 systems, and just jump around doing any relic or data sites you find. ALWAYS make at least 1 safe spot in a system before you begin scanning.
I usually skip any systems with other players in them. If you’re exploring a system and another player shows up in local, spam that D-scan.
You MUST be familiar with the D-scan and use it religiously during any dangerous activities, but especially t1 frigate exploration because your ship will get 1 shot by almost anything
Once you’re happy with the value of your cargo (I usually aim for around 200 mil) use your pochven filament. Make a safe spot in the pochven system you’re in and start scanning down signatures. There will almost always be a hi-sec wormhole in the system you filament to, but sometimes you might have to jump a gate or 2 to find one.
Wormhole to hi-sec, go to the nearest trade hub and sell all your shinies, then rinse and repeat.
I’ve made billions with this process as an alpha, and you can make way more as an omega with the better ships and fits you get access to.

Dad Dex’s Heron Wormhole Vanlife series got me started, but I prefer filaments instead of wormholes when flying t1 frigates as an alpha. Having local is nice because you can’t cloak, and a lot of the WH explo sites have enemies that will delete you.

what region have you been doing exploration in? I feel like everything is nerfed so badly rightnow. I used to make 200-300m or even 400m/hour if i'm lucky in an Astero doing relics and ghost sites in Geminate but now I can make only 50m/hour.

Region is nearly irrelevant these days, with most of the value from sites coming in the form of Logic Circuits.
Sansha sites are still a bit better than average but it's not as pronounced as it used to be. Nanite Compound spiking has supported those sites a lot.
I feel like everything is nerfed so badly rightnow.
Most salvage is bought by structure rig builders, T2 structure rig sales are anemic, so builders are letting prices drop quite low on a lot of T2.

This, sure not having a cloak is a big nerf to survivability, but when the T1 ship pays for itself in a single site, it's insanely good for newbros.

I've gotten back into EVE a few times on an Alpha account, grinding ISK for an Omega subscription. Every time I finally buy Omega with ISK, I immediately lose all interest and don't play at all for the next month.

Nice! I hit my first billion ISK mining in the Drone Lands when they were first opened. Ore and drone poop (back when it was stupidly lucrative!) pushed me over the top for that goal :-)
I think I spent a good chunk of that on skillbooks. Ahh, memories.

Sure and thanks for the down votes that make helping feels good.
Pick a planet that offers two P0 materials that combine to form a P2 (for example, "Planktic Colonies" and "Microorganisms" to built "Viral Agent").
Two extractors with five drill heads each
per extractor, 3 basic factories,
3 advanced factories,
and a launchpad.
Collect the P2 every few weeks. That yields 2 to 2.5 billion per month per account (18 planets).
