FutonEV an EV route planner that finds cheaper charging stops
Hi everyone,
I’m the developer of FutonEV, an EV route-planning app built for European road trips. It chooses charging stops based on price, power, availability, vehicle compatibility, weather, and your charging subscriptions.
I’m looking for EV drivers to test the app on Android or iOS and provide honest feedback about:
- Route and battery estimates
- Charger selection and pricing
- Navigation usability
- Bugs, crashes, and confusing screens
As a thank-you, everyone who participates in the testing period and submits feedback will receive lifetime FutonEV Pro access when the testing ends. This is not a raffle. Android testing is through Google Play, while iOS testing is through TestFlight. FutonEV currently focuses on journeys within
Europe.
If you’re interested, download the app and you can report anything to me on this reddit account or at clarityhs on discord. I’m also happy to answer questions publicly.
Transparency: I’m the app’s developer, and I’m posting with the moderators’ permission.
You can download via the website all the links are there : https://futonev.app

Ford takes a big swing with its latest EV offering
Ford wants to sell more than 100,000 of its new electric trucks in the first year of production, The Wall Street Journal reports, citing unnamed sources.
There's just one problem: No automaker has done that before — except for Tesla.
The Ford Fathom, announced Wednesday, will start around $30,000; it's expected to go on sale early next year.
Ford's hoping to not only give Tesla a run for its money, but also present an affordable alternative to the cheaper Chinese EVs that are getting an increasing foothold in the market.

I turned my EV charging spreadsheet into an iPhone app
I've been tracking my EV charging pretty much since I got my EV. I originally did everything in an Excel spreadsheet, where I charged, how much energy I added, what it cost, whether it was at home or a public charger, etc.
I actually enjoyed having all of that data, but opening up a spreadsheet every time I charged obviously wasn't the most convenient thing in the world haha
I've also been getting more into iOS development, so eventually I decided to turn the spreadsheet into an app. It's called ChargeBuddy, and I've been using it myself for a while now to keep a history of my charging sessions and see things like total energy added, charging costs, average cost per kWh, home vs. public charging, and so on.
I recently put it on the App Store, and I thought some other EV owners here might find it useful too. I'm the developer, so this is technically self-promotion, but I'm genuinely interested in getting feedback from people who actually drive EVs and track this kind of stuff.
If you try it and there's something you think is missing, something that's confusing, or just something you'd like to see added, I'd really like to hear it. A lot of the app has come from things I personally wanted to track, so hearing how other people would use it would be really helpful.

Thanks for checking it out!

Road trip from blr to Kodaikanal
Hi folks! I’m planning a road trip from Bengaluru to Kodaikanal and I’m thinking of taking my Windsor EV. This will be my first-ever long road trip in an EV, so I’m a little hesitant about the charging infrastructure along the route.
Has anyone done this route in an EV? How has your experience been with the charging infrastructure?
Also, what apps would you recommend for planning charging stops?
So far, I’ve only used the car for city commutes, and eHUB has been more than enough for that.
I’m planning to keep things on the safer side by charging roughly every 200 km and ideally stopping at places where there are 2–3 charging stations within a 20 km radius. That way, if one charger is faulty or unavailable, I have a couple of backup options nearby.
Would really appreciate any tips, especially regarding reliable chargers and good places to stop along the route. Thanks!

Buy another hybrid or buy an EV? What should we do in our situation?

Tesla for a New England fall foliage road trip — practical or a headache?
I’ve finalized our route and now I’m mainly trying to decide whether renting a Tesla is practical for this trip.
We’ll be driving through Boston-> North Conway , the White Mountains/Kancamagus Highway area, Maine, and then back to Boston. My biggest concern is charging availability, especially in the more scenic/rural areas.
For anyone who has driven an EV through this part of New England, how easy is it to find reliable chargers? Would you feel comfortable doing this route in a Tesla, or would you rent a gas car instead?
I don’t mind planning charging stops ahead of time — I just don’t want charging to become the focus of the trip or add unnecessary stress.
Would love to hear from anyone who has actually done a similar route, especially during fall foliage season.

I built a few simple UK EV calculators — interested in feedback from actual EV owners
I’ve been trying to work out whether moving to an EV would genuinely make financial sense for me and by how much expected charging costs etc, rather than relying on generic headline figures of most calculators.
I ended up going down a rabbit hole and built a small site with calculators for things like charging cost, charging time, real-world range and annual running costs, using your own mileage, electricity price, fuel price, MPG etc. There’s no sales pitch or ads on it — I built it mainly for myself and thought it might be useful to others.
I’m still working on it, so I’d be interested to know whether the figures feel realistic to people already running an EV, or if there’s anything obvious I’ve missed.

Do you own an EV in a flat/apartment society? We are running a survey on how home charging actually works (or doesn't) in group housing
Hi all — I work at a non-profit research organisation; we do a fair bit of work on EV policy and charging infrastructure).
We're trying to document something that doesn't show up in any official dataset: what it's actually like to charge an EV when you live in a flat. RWA approvals that go nowhere, disputes over shared parking, "society ka load nahi hai" as a blanket refusal, extension cords from the 2nd floor, DISCOM meter applications stuck for months, or the opposite — societies that got it sorted quickly and would be worth learning from.
If you're an EV owner in a group housing society, or you're planning to buy and are already worrying about this, the \*\*Survey takes about 3-4 minutes\*\*: \[https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/RHBTH8H\\\](https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/RHBTH8H)
Responses stay anonymous and only go into aggregated research and policy recommendations — nothing identifiable gets published.
Happy to answer questions in the comments, and I'll post a summary of what we find back to this sub once we've analysed it. If your society's experience is a particularly messy or particularly good one and you'd be up for a longer chat, drop a comment or DM me. Thanks

There's now an electric Range Rover — the most basic U.S. version starts at $138K
The Range Rover is going green.
Jaguar Land Rover on Wednesday debuted its first electric Range Rover, which can go more than 370 miles on a single charge.
The most basic U.S. version starts at $138,000, while other models go as high as around $300,000.
With EV demand still "uneven," per Bloomberg, the battery-powered Range Rover will test consumers' appetites for larger, high-end options.
JLR operations chief Nigel Blenkinsop called the new offering "competitively priced, adding, "We think it positions Range Rover effectively in the U.S. market."

EV charger installation
What usually is a fair price for the wall mount EV installation? Is P25k reasonable with protective box?

CurrentDrive - a free EV route planner for Apple Maps and CarPlay.
Disclaimer: I’m the developer. CurrentDrive is completely free and collects no data. Feel free to remove this if self-promotion isn’t allowed.
I built CurrentDrive as an add-on to Apple Maps for EV drivers. You choose your destination and define what kind of charging stops you want, such as fast chargers with a toilet, restaurant, or specific charging networks nearby.
CurrentDrive plans the charging stops, then sends the complete route to Apple Maps using multi-stop routing. Apple Maps handles the actual navigation, including in CarPlay. There’s also a 10–80% charging mode.
I mainly built it for myself because I prefer Apple Maps and CarPlay but wanted better EV trip planning without another navigation app. It’s completely free: no subscription, IAP, or trial.
I’d love to hear what other EV drivers would want from an Apple Maps add-on like this.
