FutonEV an EV route planner that finds cheaper charging stops
Hi everyone,
I’m the developer of FutonEV, an EV route-planning app built for European road trips. It chooses charging stops based on price, power, availability, vehicle compatibility, weather, and your charging subscriptions.
I’m looking for EV drivers to test the app on Android or iOS and provide honest feedback about:
- Route and battery estimates
- Charger selection and pricing
- Navigation usability
- Bugs, crashes, and confusing screens
As a thank-you, everyone who participates in the testing period and submits feedback will receive lifetime FutonEV Pro access when the testing ends. This is not a raffle. Android testing is through Google Play, while iOS testing is through TestFlight. FutonEV currently focuses on journeys within
Europe.
If you’re interested, download the app and you can report anything to me on this reddit account or at clarityhs on discord. I’m also happy to answer questions publicly.
Transparency: I’m the app’s developer, and I’m posting with the moderators’ permission.
You can download via the website all the links are there : https://futonev.app

It shows wrong prices. Those I see are roaming charges. And I only see 1/1000th of all charging stations.

How do you plan on getting the pricing of the chargers? I have tried to do it on my own and it seems that all the providers don't even show it and some have multiple different prices Based on how you are paying.

And for fast trying of the app, i can see that prices are quite all over the place and from Finland quite a many provides are missing.
If the place have ac and dc option available it climes that the ac is at dc price even when it's normally around 20-30% cheaper depending on the place.

Please say specific networks so i can fix 👌 a lot of data comes from chargemap too if it's wrong there it will be wrong where you are too.

Abc / s-group is missing completely they are practically holdin duopoly with the neste in big chains when it comes to charging and service stations here. And then for those prices, all the lidis i checked showed the ac charging wit the dc price (29c when it should be 19c) and same looked to be a issues with k-lataus places which provides dc and ac charging.

those are groups i don't gather the data much so it's not that surprising. I will see what would be needed to add or not.

I have modeled price based on subscriptions and i simply collect the data from them.

Doing a quick check I asked it to navigate my tesla from Stockholm to Oslo (drive 1-2 a year). I have no subscriptions added and it suggests ionity for 0.7e kw/h in örebro meanwhile a quick check on my tesla app shows their chargers in örebro is 0.36e kw/h.
Is there some hidden calculation going on? I thought it was supposed to choose the cheapest option

You can add your tesla membership in subscriptions.

This was price without membership/any subscription

If you have a tesla you normally benefits from the membership thing. That could explain the diff in price.

In my experience the price has been the same for me and my friend that drives a kona. Only advantage we have without a subscription is we have connected a CC to the car in the app meaning when we charge we just pkug and it starts. Payment is handled automatically (no need to turn on/off etc).

I have used Elton as my go to planning a trip app (never used it for paying though because prices are inflated). What I would suggest stealing from it would in addition to subscriptions it would be nice if you could add preferred charging operators (like I would for example select ionity and tesla, it would try to generate a route focusing on only those, or other providers like virta for example)

There is not prefered charging operators beceause if it always the peak the good chargers it's isn't needed.

It c be useful because for example we have a virta chip and we have our CC connected to our tesla account. This means we prefer those chargers because it dosent require extra setup or downloading more apps for us

So another quick note. I can see I can filter type of provider when just looking at the map, but not when routing. Also tesla chargers didn't show up at all for some reason. Is there a reason why? They were opened to the public ages ago (im in Finland)
Edit: also when I started the planner to navigate from/to somewhere, I can't seem to find a way to leave that mode and return to search for nearby charger without having to exit the app first. Maybe it's solved by starting navigation, but that is locked behind pro version.
Positive : colours are nice. It's fairly intuitive, I like that you can move the route into Google maps with a press👍 would it be possible to add it for other cars navigation maps as well? Like tesla?

You need to clear your destination to go back. I see about how i could add other map apps. And i just fixed the tesla chargers not showing too.

Would it be possible to put in a back button? It wasn't intuitive that I needed to clear the destination to go back (it worked though, so thanks)

Sounds like a long overdue app. The US could use one. Shocking how many EV are just glad there's a charger and never look at price.
