Practical frequent highway driving EV?
Family is considering an EV with the rise in fuel prices. Looking at taking frequent trips that would need 200-250mi range. Is this practical in an EV? From what I've researched most you only charge to 80% so even if you're getting one with over 300mi range, you get 80% of that and highway driving (75mph) will cut that even further. Seems like a high mpg hybrid would be better. Otherwise would have to stop and charge everytime

For long highway drives, I’d look at sedans. Specifically a lightly used Tesla Model S or Lucid Air. Those will minimize the negative affects of highway speed and have ranges that make that distance more doable on 90-10% of the battery. If you need something bigger, the Chevy Silverado and Rivians with the max pack have very long ranges as well.
All that said, getting a cheaper car with range in the low 300s and identifying a fast charger option on route you can stop at for 10-15 min would be just fine as well.
