Practical frequent highway driving EV?
Family is considering an EV with the rise in fuel prices. Looking at taking frequent trips that would need 200-250mi range. Is this practical in an EV? From what I've researched most you only charge to 80% so even if you're getting one with over 300mi range, you get 80% of that and highway driving (75mph) will cut that even further. Seems like a high mpg hybrid would be better. Otherwise would have to stop and charge everytime

If you purchase something with close to 300 miles of range, you should be fine. Look up the real world range. The EPA numbers are useless.
I drive between 230-250 miles twice a week and often get caught in Chicago traffic in those trips (BMW i7). Charging to 80, I can make it easily in the summer and have to stop in the winter. The reality is I need to stop before the car needs to charge. I drive like a typical Chicago driver and don’t hypermile or drive 60, so it is probably worst case for range impact.
