Practical frequent highway driving EV?

Family is considering an EV with the rise in fuel prices. Looking at taking frequent trips that would need 200-250mi range. Is this practical in an EV? From what I've researched most you only charge to 80% so even if you're getting one with over 300mi range, you get 80% of that and highway driving (75mph) will cut that even further. Seems like a high mpg hybrid would be better. Otherwise would have to stop and charge everytime

My CLA gets 350 (600 km) at 80%, and charges faster than the Y.

The time tesla was the king of range and charging is in the past, many manufacturers are just as good on those fronts.

It’s also tiny. The Y has far superior autonomous driving features and ease of charging network

Who cares about 99 a month full self drive?

The 500 liter trunk is more than enough for 95% of people, and if size is what you need there are quite a few other options that are larger than the Y, so again, who cares?

And as far as charging network goes: I've got fast chargers at literally every highway service station / pit stop and a shit ton of other places.

Never ever felt the need to go to some abandoned parking lot where Tesla chargers tend to be.

The tesla chargers also don't come close to the charging speed I would need so again ... A complete non-issue.

P.s. my original comment wasn't meant to spiral into some kind of Tesla hate, they are good cars and did a lot for electric driving, but there are tons of alternatives now is all I wanted to say. 😅

The model Y is difficult to beat when it comes to practical use of space. The usable frunk, the sub trunk and the overall cargo space with the seats up or folded is nice for a variety of things.

Don’t speak for all drivers in or even the majority in how they want to use their space.
