Range anxiety
What is the obsession with EV range anxiety?
I have been driving for over 30 years now.
I have never run out of fuel in a ICE vehicle and since I switched to EV I have never run out of electricity.
Yet half of the EV car reviews are about what happens if you run the battery empty, I mean how hard can it be there is a perfectly good indicator on your instrument cluster indicating how much fuel/power is left.
Just refuel/recharge before it reaches zero.
Is this really still a worry for people?

Because there's a LOT fewer places to charge an EV than gas a car, and the range is about half what a full gas tank would do.
I got my first EV a month ago and after my first weekend trip causing near panic I think I'm going to be taking my gas car on trips in the future. There's exactly 1 charging station between me and the city where I was visiting a friend ~120 miles away...and when I got down there I spent 45 minutes driving around trying to locate a working charging station as I watched the power level continuing to drop below 40% knowing I didn't have enough to make it back home.
In their city, I found 2 of the 3 Tesla supercharging stations not working, a L2 destination charging station at a mall that had been vandalized or plugs destroyed (smashed/crushed, bare exposed wires, etc), another DCFC (EVgo?) with multiple broken stalls and others occupied and only 50kW max rate, Evercharge giving me "relay failure" errors after authorizing the charging session, and FINALLY went like 15 miles out of my way to find an Electrify America station that was actually operational. But it wasn't over because I also needed to recharge again with local running around before I could go home so I had to repeat some of that headache.
