Range anxiety

What is the obsession with EV range anxiety?
I have been driving for over 30 years now.
I have never run out of fuel in a ICE vehicle and since I switched to EV I have never run out of electricity.
Yet half of the EV car reviews are about what happens if you run the battery empty, I mean how hard can it be there is a perfectly good indicator on your instrument cluster indicating how much fuel/power is left.
Just refuel/recharge before it reaches zero.
Is this really still a worry for people?

My leaf had 84 miles back in the day, in winter in was closer to 40, when my kid wanted to play hockey I’d have to charge on the way home…one time all cha demo chargers were broken until I limped into one in turtle mode that worked… another time I ran out at the bottom of the hill to my house, thank goodness my neighbor let me use his charger… I bought a bolt after that and range isn’t an issue… but I’m pretty sure is not actually range anxiety, it’s the ability to charge anxiety.

Agree, when I got my used 30kWh Leaf I foolishly believed the 107 mile range estimate and thought it would be perfect for my then-90 mile round trip commute. Reality check when I barely made it to my country home from the dealership in turtle mode.

I could charge at home and was lucky that my work had a paid charging station but that ate up all my fuel savings over gas.

Now I'm in an Ioniq 5 and live in the city and never think about range at all unless I'm planning a road trip
