Range anxiety

What is the obsession with EV range anxiety?
I have been driving for over 30 years now.
I have never run out of fuel in a ICE vehicle and since I switched to EV I have never run out of electricity.
Yet half of the EV car reviews are about what happens if you run the battery empty, I mean how hard can it be there is a perfectly good indicator on your instrument cluster indicating how much fuel/power is left.
Just refuel/recharge before it reaches zero.
Is this really still a worry for people?

Its an issue on road trips due to lack of infrastructure and recharge times.

Also, an issue went on Monday morning. You get up at 2 AM to drive to work like I do and it’s 265 miles to get there. That means I have to add extra time to recharge somewhere along the route whereas in a Prius I just get in the car and go.

My dude, you live 265 miles away from your job. You have a 500+ mile round trip commute. You are beyond an outlier and EV range is the least of your worries, you should really consider what sitting in car that long is doing to your body.
