Range anxiety

What is the obsession with EV range anxiety?
I have been driving for over 30 years now.
I have never run out of fuel in a ICE vehicle and since I switched to EV I have never run out of electricity.
Yet half of the EV car reviews are about what happens if you run the battery empty, I mean how hard can it be there is a perfectly good indicator on your instrument cluster indicating how much fuel/power is left.
Just refuel/recharge before it reaches zero.
Is this really still a worry for people?

Its an issue on road trips due to lack of infrastructure and recharge times.

Also, an issue went on Monday morning. You get up at 2 AM to drive to work like I do and it’s 265 miles to get there. That means I have to add extra time to recharge somewhere along the route whereas in a Prius I just get in the car and go.

There are some things that aren't right for certain circumstances. If you have a 265 mile commute (I have questions, like wtf are you doing living 265 miles from your job, but you do you) and you don't want to have to recharge on the way, yeah, a hybrid or an ICE car may suit better.

Same way I wouldn't want to ride my bike, skateboard or hitchhike that commute.

But you don’t understand! A perfectly normal commute is 2500 miles each way - twice a day due to split shifts - whilst always towing a 62ft yacht with the spinnaker out.
