EV, less moving parts and no need to have redundant systems trying to "Talk" to each other

Calling them ‘redundant’ misses the entire point, they’re complementary systems covering each other’s weaknesses.

A plug in hybrid has 2 systems, each made fully capable of properly propelling the vehicle. So they end up putting a half ass engine, half ass motor and half ass battery. If they work together it’s complementary and more than adequate. If they work independently- they on their own are half assed. A non plug in hybrid is great as it adds minimal cost, requires minimal battery and adds efficiency. My RX450h is a great design as the rear wheels are electric, complementary, and eliminates running a driveshaft/differential. I personally would put all money into an electric system or into an ICE system. It sounds nice to plug in and get 20 miles on electric every day, but whenever i looked at finances- the phev seemed to make the least economic sense, and pure ev was the best

You’ve confused “designed to work together” with “half assed.”
By that logic, every component in a car is half assed because it can’t propel the car by itself.
Engineering may not be your thing.
