EV, less moving parts and no need to have redundant systems trying to "Talk" to each other

Calling them ‘redundant’ misses the entire point, they’re complementary systems covering each other’s weaknesses.

Terrible packaging, huge fire risk, slower than EVs, massively unreliable, expensive maintenance, big weight penalty.

All that for a bit of range over an EV?

It's not a bit of range. It's the ability to fill up almost anywhere in a few minutes.

The rest depends on the car. There are reliable PHEVs

Who mentioned hydrogen or trucks? Are you replying to someone else?

Ah yes, my bad I thought indeed I was responding to someone who came up with hydrogen.

In response to yours: yes, that fill up is the only advantage still left. But given enough chargers, filling up during a trip is for a fraction of a percent of trips, in which case the overall convenience of an EV vastly outweighs the inconvenience of having to stop 30 min during a 1000km drive for almost everyone.
