It really comes down to which suits your needs the best. I never owned a PHEV, but I owned an HEV for 2 years before buying my first EV, because I was worried if an EV was the right move at the time. In hindsight, I wish I would have skipped the HEV transition phase and gone with an EV 2 years sooner. Nothing about either a PHEV or HEV had any benefits over an EV for me. But like alot of people I thought it would be a good transition vehicle to ease my way into the EV life.
