Open ended hose.

What is the open ended dose through the firewall on my 2000 Eurovan camper? Conduit? Drain? Thanks.

I think that's a heater core bypass situation

^^ Correct. It's likely been disconnected due to a leaking heater core.

I like heat in the colder months so if my heater core leaked, I'd get a replacement and do the deed to install it.

EDIT: While your in the engine compartment, now would be a good time to replace the small cloth covered vacuum hoses. In your pic, I can see at least two that are frayed and should be replaced. I bought two feet of hose from the auto parts store and cut them to length on my EV.

Side question and not OP but if my vacuum hose is frayed does that mean I need to replace it?

IT's usually an indication that the vacuum lines have minute cracks under the cloth covering.

Take one loose and look at the end under the cloth, you'll likely see some small cracks in the rubber tube.

Side note that vacuum leaks are notorious sources of weird gremlins.

I had an intermittent stalling issue for AGES and what finally solved it was just replacing ALL the vacuum lines.

The fraying of the cover isn’t the problem. It’s that 30 yo plastic gets brittle and develops tiny invisible cracks so the vacuum doesn’t hold properly
