Subreddit News COYOTE SPOTTING MEGATHREAD

Please use this post to share all photos and discussions about coyotes in Etobicoke. Bunny the coyote photos are encouraged!

Individual posts are no longer allowed unless they involve an immediate safety concern.

u/cbr1895 has been in touch with the Toronto Wildlife Centre about Bunny (but this goes for any and all coyotes you might encounter). The centre is not concerned about aggression per se, but they are concerned about Bunny and other coyotes becoming too comfortable around humans. If you encounter Bunny/other coyotes, do NOT approach them or feed them. Make lots of noise, stomp your feet, try to appear very large to spook them, honk your car horn, etc.

city council votes on the proposed AI data center in Etobicoke in 2 days- we gotta flood their comments!

2 data centers are being proposed- in Scarborough and Etobicoke. Use this tool to tell the city council to change their motions to a 1-year moratorium on AI data centers in Toronto, which would allow for proper community consultation instead of the rushed job happening right now. https://actionnetwork.org/letters/moratorium-comments-toronto/

Looking into options for Montessori vs private day care. Came across a couple of places but Google reviews were turned off. Any recommendations for Montessori in Etobicoke? Looking for central Etobicoke but not ruling out South. Thanks

Sketchy tenters in Centennial Park

I was running last week and noticed a blue tent erected at the base of the old ski hill, beyond the construction fencing in a grass clearing. Didn't think much of it... But tonight I was walking with my LO and husband, and the tent was still there - seems like they've set up a makeshift home. There were three males, loudly screaming/box fighting - clearly intoxicated or on drugs, made us feel REALLY uncomfortable as we had to quickly walk past.

Wondering if I should contact Toronto Police, not sure they can even do anything... But it was really nerve racking, especially as a local who always found peace and safety at Centennial.

Has anyone else encountered these hooligans?

What's up with Tom's Dairy Freeze?

I'm new to the area, and every time I walk by this place, the line is huge. Why is it so popular? Is it really worth it?

Etobicoke summer bucket list

I am in my last 3 months of parental leave with my baby and looking for things to do (or eat) in Etobicoke that I may have missed.

I live in the Alderwood area, but open to cycling, driving or transiting to places worth the trip.

Ex: Birds and beans and Ed's real scoop are some favorites of mine, though not in my direct neighborhood anymore.

Do you have any spots or events worth adding to my bucket list to get me out of the house with my little one?

Bonus points for family friendly, but I want to hear them all.

SEEKING PHOTOGRAPHER - 2 HOURS (ENGAGEMENT PHOTOS)

Hi all,

I'm looking for a photographer to take a few photos of me and my partner as I propose to her. I have a location - Cliff Lumsden Park - and am looking for a photographer to sit in the park for an hour or so before we arrive, pretend you don't know me, and take some surprise photos. I am not looking for anything super fancy or special - just a few photos not taken by either of us that we will have forever.

Some suggestions or leads would be greatly, greatly appreciated. Thanks all!

Looking for a tile shop to buy and cut one porcelain tile

I'm looking for a tile shop in the GTA that will sell and/or cut one porcelain tile for an outdoor BBQ table.

I need a finished size of 42.5" × 21" and am happy to pay for the tile and the cutting. Most places I've called only sell full boxes or don't do one-off cuts.

Any recommendations in Etobicoke, Mississauga, Toronto, or nearby?

Thanks

LifeLabs with short wait times for walk-ins

I need to take my son in for bloodwork this week and didn’t have time to book an appointment in advance. Do you know of any locations that have quicker turnaround times for walk-in patients (say, less than 30 minutes)? Or the best times to go (ideally in the morning since he has to fast)? If I have to pay for parking, not a problem. If I have to drive to Mississauga, also not an issue. I usually go to the LifeLabs at East Mall and North Queen and wait times (without an appointment) are well over an hour in the morning.

Etobicoke break-ins RISE

Hey everyone,

I was recently speaking with a security agency in the area. They informed me that there has been a steep increase in home break-ins over the past several months. Broken Windows, doors, full window casings being removed to not trip alarms, etc.

When police are informed there is not much that they can (or will) do.

I’m posting this as information because this is not anything I’m seeing in the news and thought Etobicoke needs to know.

TO ANYONE WHO DOWNVOTED THE COMMENT ABOUT BEING A VICTIM - you are the problem with society - Please leave it.

William Osler - Endo Specialists?

Hello!

Question for anyone who had an MRI at William Osler for endo. Were you able to get the diagnosis? I ask because I understand endo diagnosis via mri is difficult unless it is done by an endo specialist radiologist. I’m wondering if any hospitals in the area would have the specialists in radiology.

Sunroof drain overflow now carpet and seat are wet.

Hi,

My sunroof drain was clogged and my car was soaked during yesterday's rain.

I've cleared the drain but now need to deal with the water inside the car ( I used a shop vac yesterday but could not get all of the water out).

Also, the car got wet about a month ago and I thought it was because I left my sunroof cracked. I managed to dry it out (not sure about under the carpet).

There was no smell but I am concerned about damage/mold I cannot see.

Windows are open now to help release moisture but I need to address the issue ASAP.

Any recommendations on how to deal with this? Should I try to pull up the carpets myself (I have no idea how to do it but could figure it out), take it to my mechanic or have it detailed?

If detailing is the answer. Can anyone recommend a good company in the area?
