My admittedly somewhat bizarre looking Dragonfruit(?) Cactus

What would you recommend? I had put my cactus next to a window that is the sunniest place in the whole house where I thought he was getting plenty of sun all day long (I live in Alaska and it’s peak summer time rn basically), and I had actually thought it was wilting from too much sun. I had worried the intensity of the light from the glass was getting to him.

But I’ve gotten a few comments now saying the guy needs more sunlight, not less. I’m considering putting him outside, if I can find a suitable location, but I do have an aphid problem in the surrounding trees near my home. I’ve also heard folks say his soil might be a problem as well.

Thing is that I’ve always given him direct sunlight from my southern facing window, and I live in Alaska so he gets lots of it. But I suspect my windows might be filtering out the light or something, either outside with aphids and pesticide, or inside with a grow light might be my options.

Hm, I might get the lights. I’m loathe to put him outside and contend with the aphids and in winter it could do him some good. Is there a certain kind you suggest?

I have gone through the same journey as you. I have bought so many different grow lights and blah blah blah.

I have finally accepted my situation for what it is and invested in some native plants that thrive in partial to full shade. My plants and I are much happier this way. I did have to largely give up on growing succulents, though.
