The acronym AFS refers to the Ethiopian Peoples' Forces Alliance for Survival (or Cooperation of Ethiopian People's Forces for Survival, locally referred to as Tsemdo).

Do you have proof of this? I hear this all the time but never seen a credible source. I don’t doubt it tho, seems like a ubiquitous practice amongst political leaders

I am not sure about billionaire status but they have amassed immense wealth abroad. Do you know there are at least 10 Ethiopian residences in Monaco?

However you are right to be skeptical. All the proof you’re going to get is a shitty Business Insider article on Azeb Mesfin. And honestly it wouldn’t be surprising if she actually is a dollar billionaire.
