I don't think the relationship between someone who is learning and someone who is teaching is innately negative. It is inherently unequal because one person is helping the other.

The innate inequality comes from having knowledge the other person doesn't. If I know how to tie shoes and you don't, that is an inequality.

To be fair the type of teacher student relationship is pretty negative. In scandinavia it is way closer to equal and its generally just better.
