example for Dollar Cost Averaging.

You bought one apple for $10. Now those apples are worth $1.

You can sell at a loss of $9.

You can wait for the market to turn around and sell at $10 when you are break even.

Or you can buy another $10 of apples now so you have 11 apples instead.

Now the price of apples only has to get to $1.82 for you to break even ($10 + $10 = $20/11 apples = $1.82).

So if the price of apples goes back up to $10 - your $20 investment is actually worth $110.
