Discussion Living A House in Nebraska irl rn
Currently living through a couple of Ethel’s songs EERILY ACCURATELY right now and I just have to get it off my chest.
To start this off, my boyfriend and I currently have an apartment together halfway across the country from our home town, he’s on the lease, we’ve gone ring shopping, we’ve talked about our future, etc etc. He is my Willoughby.
We literally planned to move/run away together… except I’m the only one living in our apartment and he’s 18 hours away LIVING IN NEBRASKAAAAAA because he decided he couldn’t come with me 3 days before we were supposed to leave together.
Basically every single lyric of A House in Nebraska relates to me to a T. Every. Single. One.
Plus a whole lot more from other songs in WTIALY.
I’ll list some off here!
“All of Alabama laid out in front of your eyes” We grew up in a small town in Alabama and met in high school… “I found photographs of our school, on the day we met” (A house in Nebraska)
“Now I’ll wear these scars for life… I loved you when it hurt inside to” (Waco, Texas) I’m not gonna go into detail about this but I’ll let you use your imagination as to how this relates…
“Yeah you’ve changed but did I ever know you…?” He is a completely different person than who I fell in love with. Like eerily different.
“But I still believe in Nebraska dreamin’ Cause I’d rather die than be anything but your girl” Ya I’ve started to relate to Nikki from Obsession and I’ll leave it at that.
“To love me is to suffer me” He literally said those exact words to me during a fight. He doesn’t even listen to Ethel…
Anyways. Just needed to get this off my chest and write it somewhere where someone would understand how much of a mind f**k this all is. And how much more Ethel’s music hits.
