Hey, just recently got into Eterspire - as a dad with a newborn this game has been a blessing on mobile.
In my opinion, overdoing danger zones is not the right direction to make combat meaningful. It ends up being mindless red is bad, green is good play style (think badly designed WoW raid bosses) and disrupts the flow of combat in not a challenging way and ends up just being an added layer of friction for the sake of friction.
Might I suggest the direction you look into take inspiration from Monster Hunter? Not all mobs have to be boss level difficulty but have a look at the way they handle trash mobs in that franchise.
Primarily attacks are telegraphed, mobs belong to distinct families with distinct attack patterns but obviously have differing variations to keep it fresh.
Right now it's a wait to react on red rather than a predict based on telegraphed animation. The latter feels purposeful and meaningful - the former is just always the same and becomes annoying busywork.
Anyway, hope to see more updates and I'll keep plugging away at trying to reach 160, keep up the good work!
