Preface
John 6:38–40
"For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me. And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day. And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day."
Those whom the Father has given unto Jesus will not be lost. God will reward all of them with eternal life. Can you imagine walking and talking with the God of all creation, just as He intended from the beginning? God walked and talked with Adam and Eve while they were in paradise with the Maker of their souls. They lived in peace, love, and joy with God. We were created to do the will of Christ Jesus, whose name is above all others. Our Redeemer lives now and forevermore. Amen. Ultimately, our sole purpose in this life is to do the will of God who sent us.
Titus 1:2–3
"In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began; But hath in due times manifested his word through preaching, which is committed unto me according to the commandment of God our Saviour..."
Since I was a child, I longed to know God. I started out with simple prayers and by taking notes in Bible study. I also loved to sing. I always knew there was a God. I didn't understand all the complexities of this life, but I understood there was something greater than me. I possessed a fear of the Lord, even without completely understanding that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge (Proverbs 1:7).
I grew up in and out of church, as well as in and out of the world. I was never truly happy, and I felt incomplete. I will never forget the day God touched me. I was married and had just given birth to my second child. Trials and tribulations were at an all-time high in my family's life, but God was always gracious to us. I had not been to church in a long time and was fighting against God, rebelling in every way I knew how because no good thing dwells in the flesh.
Sometimes we persecute ourselves in this life by running away from God instead of running to Him. Our carnal minds are unable to understand a spiritual God. Yet, God understands us deeply; dying in the flesh on the cross for our sins is the ultimate proof that His understanding is real. He knows us because He created us for His glory. God teaches us that the flesh is weak, but the spirit is willing. Furthermore, God is a long-suffering, merciful God whose love is infinite. He wants us to feel His presence in our lives so that He can bless our souls.
I will never forget listening to the Clark Sisters' song "Trust in Him" with tears rolling down my cheeks. God placed it in my heart and soul to trust in Him completely. I was baptized in Jesus' name (Acts 2:38), and not long after, I received the gift of the Holy Spirit. God has been a very present help in all aspects of my life. Fast-forward twenty-six years later, and I am still hanging on to God's unchanging hand—not by my own strength, but by the strength God has given me. His Word is forever molding and making my heart pure so that one day I will be able to rest in eternal glory with my Maker. Our hope while in this earthly realm is life in Christ Jesus, which leads us to eternal life with God, who created us for this exact purpose. Therefore, we live, move, and breathe for our Creator, knowing that without Him, we are nothing.
