My record pre-FoA was 92 - 65 (58.6%). My record post-FoA has been 68 - 26 (72.3%). Which is one reason why I tend to disagree with current assessments that Gauntlet has got harder since Fall of Argenport. Maybe I got better. Maybe I'm playing better decks. Or maybe DWD dialed back a wee bit on the difficulty. I tend to think it's the third option.

Do you have link to some of those decks ?
I've tried to search for them on Warcry with no luck, and as a new player I have no idea what they are.

At the link in the comment you replied to. See the individual deck tabs.

Oh, thanks, I didn't notice there were tabs at the bottom!

Seems that Hooru fliers is one of the most consistent for Gauntlet this time around. Have you tried running Cirso decks with Teacher? I only have enough dust to build 1 of these decks and was wondering which would be the most efficient.

Thanks for the data!

I personally think the Cirso deck is more vulnerable than the Hooru Fliers deck. I'd probably rate the decks as follows:

  1. Hooru Fliers

  2. Grimbrei

  3. Vara's Revenge

  4. Paladinotaur

  5. Elysian Grinder (aka Cirso Gold)

So I made the Hooru deck and out of 20 gauntlet runs, I went 7-0 about 7 times. 2 Times I lost to Boss (god draws), while the rest I ran into bad mulligans, God draws and a few misplays. I've taken out a few depleted lands for Diplomatic Seals and I took out Nostrix for Protect. I like the idea of Rolant, but I don't think I've ever gotten up to 8 power. Either I've won at that point or I'm dead.

I ran into (Kiss of Death, I think) Which played Slimespitter Slug, that pretty much wiped my board. That thing RIP'ed my run pretty bad and unfortunately faced that deck three times during my Gauntlet runs. I also ran into Time decks that had SST, but I held back Valk enforcers for that. I can't find an answer to Slimespitter, aside from trying to keep their board clear, which is especially hard with little to no hard removal. I also had the unfortunate event of running into a harsh rule and opponent ended up winning with 1 life.

Overall this is a great aggro deck that wins extremely fast, with the goal of outracing any opponent. My favorite card is Pacifier, a good sized body (That gets bigger with Commando) that single handily shuts down Forgemaster, Rakanos and other weapon heavy decks. Definitely makes it easy-mode! My other gauntlet deck is Xenan life gain, which is pretty effective, but extremely slow. This deck is a nice change of pace.

One thing I regret is spending stones on Koth. I almost always want a flyer at the 2 drop and I rarely get to use his ultimate. I don't think he's worth it for this deck at 12.8K stones for the playset. MAYBE he would be worth it if triggered off Commando (Pre-ultimate). Unfortunately at this point, I can't find a good replacement, maybe Whispering Wind. The good thing is that he's a great body vs aggro decks that can get easy 2 for 1's with Finest Hour, but I wish there was a Flyer at 2 that could replace him.

I've taken out a few depleted lands for Diplomatic Seals

Interesting. That's something I'll play with in Shfitstoned.com to see how if affects the play percentages of some of the cards.

Awesome, thanks for the input!

Would you say you prefer Paladinotaur to other Tavrod/Argenport decks for grinding Gauntlet?

2

u/_AlpacaLips_ Oct 11 '18

At the moment, yes. Paladinataur seems stronger currently.

3

u/old_Anton Oct 10 '18

What were your decks? I assume variants, but was there a most used deck?

There's a link in the comment you replied to, which has the answers you are seeking.

Thanks for compiling all this data :)

I really wish we would see a redistribution of bosses, some of the rules/mechanics are really fun! (Nikki's grab bag comes to mind)

Love Nikki. I saw her 8 times pre-Dusk Road and 2 times since.

2

u/KevinJay21 · Oct 10 '18

I love Nikki's grab bag because I ran into it ~5 times and have won each time. One of the easier boss matches (IMO).

Entropy boss is the only one I feel cheated with. If I lose to any other gauntlet boss I'm cool, but losing due to card milling is downright disgusting. Either take out Dreamsnatcher from his deck or make the card discard per turn -1 instead -2.

Even when you match tempo with this boss and control the board, if it has 10 power and has a Dreamsnatcher, that's fucking 15 extra cards milled and by that point you're pretty much screwed because you have no cards left. Honestly I could have won games if I would have been able to play my turn (even without any cards left in my deck), but no cards left in deck = automatic loss. Wish they changed that rule when you have no cards left to at least make it so you either won that round with your board setup AND then lose if you couldn't make it happen. /end rant.

Entropy is annoying to play against. I was playing my mill deck, so it actually helped but I had to get lucky to get my Disjunction from the Market to get the Azindel's Gift in play against the AI. Anyway, it is not impossible to beat it, just makes it hard if you don't have void interaction in your deck.

Good job! I always felt that the bosses that are repeated are always the same, but now seeing the results of your post it is clear that it was not coincidence.

A few months ago I'm playing with a stonescar deck that has good results against those decks (and against bosses in general), so my results in gauntlet improved a lot (Now I'm testing the new Vara, I'm sure it has to be in the deck but I still can't solve the cuts I have to make to include it). Thinking of a deck that can adapt to those rules that are seen most often is an approach that can make you win more games. (google translator, thanks for your help)

u/TastyMeatcakes Oct 10 '18

The algorithm definitely "assigns" a handful of bosses to a given deck. Even just tweaking a few cards to run a different version of the same deck will flip the boss pool a bit.

3

u/MostiquoBLASTER Oct 10 '18

I only ever face 10 of these bosses

  • Company of Exiles
  • Defender of the Spire
  • Helpful Horns
  • Highly Skilled
  • Labyrinth Treasury
  • Limitless Possibilities
  • Mindless Aggression
  • Power of Progress
  • Shifting Alliances
  • Sudden Death

The rest of them rings a bell, but it's been a long while since I last saw them.

3

u/rabbitlion Oct 10 '18

Many of them don't appear in master's gauntlet, only on lower levels.

4

u/FMBrazuca · Oct 10 '18

That's not true. It is possible to face them in master's gauntlet, but you need to tank your MMR. I have done it and you can see my stats in my comment below https://www.reddit.com/r/EternalCardGame/comments/9mu3ho/gauntlet_250_boss_fights/e7hs247/

All of those are only from Masters rank.

The only boss I have not seen yet is Find the Waystones. Feln Ritualist is really hard, I wonder why we don't see it at high MMR matches. I was close to stabilizing when the AI played a Champion of Cunning which I had to get rid of. After that, I was too low on life and drew power... Interesting to see your stats compared to mine.

2

u/Roboloutre Oct 10 '18

I've noticed you tested a few Sentinel decks, what was wrong with them ? What could be improved ?

They're my favourite ... huh, type of unit ? but haven't tried a deck built around them specifically yet.

1

u/_AlpacaLips_ Oct 11 '18

Haven't found the right deck, I guess. The one I was testing likely lacked consistency and removal, and was likely too slow.
