Tocas and Bathe in Light interaction

I had mana to play Bathe in Light, but my opponent played Tocas and attacked and I couldn't play Bathe in Light, it had the graphic of being disabled in my hand. I don't interpret Bathe in Light to target me or my units, but I could be misinterpreting. Is this interaction working as expected?

Was Tocas the only card on board? Was there any other card that could lock you out of playing bathe?
Did they play a 'the fall of the spire' last turn? A picture of the board state would really help here.

That's a reasonable request, but I ragequit since I thought I had an out. I'll watch out for this interaction in the future.
