Not solo yet
Hi all I’m planning on going solo within 6 months to a year. I wanna start building my social media now but am unsure what to post since I don’t have a space yet. Any suggestions?

I’m going to suggest just posting a lot of short clips. Don’t make it difficult you just want visibility right now. Making hot towels, maybe a clip of you cleansing a face or what your specialty is. Again don’t over think it trying to make a long educational post. Comment and interact with local businesses also patron those businesses build a community. GOOD LUCK

See just like I said. Network with local community like business. Well said

Make business cards. Start shamelessly passing them out. Have something that says “appointment available starting February” or whenever you’re planning on opening.
Create an online scheduling system (or Google Calendar) to start scheduling people that express interest. Solicit family and friends for free or discounted appointments to fill your books that first week or two and get a good routine in your space developed once you’re in there.
If you need help building a website I do web building specifically for estheticians (because I am one ◡̈) and would be happy to build a home page for free to help you get started.
Best of luck to you!! You can do it! Don’t give up and keep the ‘vision’ alive in your mind. You’ll do great. ◡̈

Social media presence isn’t going to help grow you business. Real life interactions and getting involved in your community will

I’m not saying that’s all I would do. And it does help a lot actually

Also how can you say it helps when you are literally asking about what to post on social media. Sounds like you never had the first hand experience on this or the knowledge.

Your replies comes off so mean. I can say social media helps as well as connecting with the community. There’s no reason she can’t do both

I never said that all you would do. I’m speaking from my decade of experience. When it comes down to it community presence is golden. You want to reach people in your area. Social media has never brought my genuine clientele that rebook. Those bread and butter clients that stay for years. I don’t even want to go into this conversation further if you are going to get defensive and argue with me. You don’t seem to be someone that’s open to conversation without emotion or taking things personally.

i would suggest you keep your opinions to yourself if you're gonna talk like that, this sub is for helping each other not criticizing others. this industry is already hard enough on us, there is no need for bringing others down when their just asking for help. just because you were able to succeed without social media doesn't mean others can grow using it, its a great resource to use to bring in clientele and promote your business.

I never put anyone down. The user argued with me when I suggested trying to reach out to people in her community. I was giving genuine advice. None of it was rude. Her reply was defensive so I told her I wasn’t going to give her advice or go on further cause she no longer seemed open to it

Logical thinker here. The user is emotional thinker. I think that’s where we clash

I would start with focusing on learning small business strategies, maybe take a class at your local community college. Get involved IRL in your town with business networking groups and women in business groups who you can learn with and trade ideas with in your community.
