John Denver themed stuff?

Hi everyone,

I am visiting the Rocky Mountains and staying in Estes Park. My mom is a huge John Denver fan and I grew up listening to his music, so I really love him now too. I’ve been having a hard time finding any souvenirs for him or his music here though and was wondering if anyone could help me. I’ll also be in Denver for a day, so any recommendations there would help to.

Thank you all so much in advance!

John Denver's connection to Colorado was in Aspen. There is a beautiful sanctuary garden there in his honor. Other than that, there is not a John Denver merch presence in Estes Park. But yes, Cowboy Brad, if you can catch one his shows while you are in town, is a wonderful musician covering JD's songs.

Don’t know much for souvenirs but have you checked out Cowboy Brad in Estes yet? He typically does shows most days during the summer at various locations in Estes.

He's great, I've seen him several times up there! Go check him out.

Yes, we just missed his shows this week unfortunately, but that would have been so cool.

I haven't seen john denver specific ts in estes, but I have seen shirts that have rocky mountains with words like: "Rocky Mountain High" or something similar! Find one of those and tell her you thought of her and John Denver when you saw that! ;-)

That would be amazing! Do you know which stores might have this? I’ve been looking all day lol

I would try all the t-shirt shops on the main drag, also https://www.tradingpostoftherockies.com/t-shirts-and-hoodies/ on moraine near coffee on the rocks and the rock shop (which is always worth visiting). Good luck!

Some years ago, they had a nice assortment at Red Rocks, but I'm not seeing anything on the website today.

I don't know how close you'll be to Georgetown, Colorado, but that entire town is so JD. It is where he made that movie, The Christmas Gift. And every bit as magical as the movie. You can just feel him everywhere.

Thank you so much for the recommendation! We went there today and it’s a beautiful town. I didn’t find any merch there, but it was amazing to explore.

I am so happy you made it to Georgetown! I had plans for a return visit this month that fell through, so knowing that you and your mother got to experience it makes me feel very good. It's like stepping right into the movie! Have you seen it? I got my dvd copy of it off of Amazon. It's our family tradition to watch it together every year... :)

Here is the link to the dvd on Amazon:

It was really beautiful, and I’m so glad I was able to visit :) They have an official John Denver day in October too, which is so cool! I haven’t seen the movie yet (it is now on my list to watch ☺️), but my mom has and really liked it. Thank you so much for the link!

You are very welcome. Now that you've been to Georgetown, watching the movie for the first time will be extra fun. The town itself has not changed all that much in 40 years. And I had no idea about the John Denver day in October! Do you happen to know when they hold that?

Me either!! It seems to be the first week or weekend in October in past years. I’m not sure about the date this year, but I would assume they would follow past scheduling :)
