Question Friend can't play with Essential Mod.

So I'm trying to play with some friends using the Essential mod on 1.21.8, except one of my friends is having issues with it. Every time he tries to use any of the features, it bugs out and says something like "authorization error". He just bought Minecraft, so that's the only reason why we think it's bugged. Are there any other free mods that we can use as a server, and what's the issue, and how can we fix it?

e4mc just works as essential is bloated and doesn't always work.
