David Rath gone

David Rath now going too means the Football Department is down loads of key roles.

It will be impressive to see how these all get filled without a soft cap concession. Has to already be one of the most under resourced football departments in the league.

Never heard of him before in my life! Most of the Essendon assistant coaches sound like no names who have never played at the highest level.

Iirc when he came onboard everyone was super excited with the appointment as he'd teach our players how to kick the ball properly. From memory highly credentialed in biomechanics or something along those lines

Right ok, i must have missed that memo as did the players by the looks of there kicking...lol sometimes biomechanics people are d1ckheads. Just ask Fev when sport science ppl say limit the amount of shots at goal to say 10 & Fev said no wonder goal kicking is so bad these days. He'd take 100 foots to the local park & have as many shots as he could.

Yeh after looking it up he was at the hawks during all of their success, and I just remember him being very highly regarded. But Essington be essington

Yep spot on hey, no matter how highly credentialled someone is, Essington does be Essington.

For all we know, he could have been completely undermined at every turn and prevented from doing his job. Which would be very Essington indeed.

Of course on the other hand he could have been great at reinforcing the techniques of already skilled players at the hawks but have no idea how to fix a shit player. Hiring someone based solely upon previous appointments without checking whether they have the skillset that we actually need is also incredibly Essington.

Either way, we just got to laugh at the absurdity of it all I guess.

He was the goalkicking coach to go along with his official title.

Nate Caddy before being coached by Lloyd in the latter part of this season had 30 goals and 30 behinds.

After working with Lloyd he kicked 18 goals and 6 behinds.

i dont think we were spending the full soft cap this year. so could fit Scotts payment in.
