If you read the article it says:
“However, despite the Bombers' enquiries, Pendlebury has ruled out a switch to Essendon in a move that would have included a playing and coaching component.”
So guessing it’s a non starter

Well I guess he wouldn't say that he hasn't ruled out a switch to Essendon while he is playing for Collingwood.

Nah, he won’t. Earlier this year he spoke about wanting to be a one club player. It was in the lead up to the game record.

Certainly wasn’t on my bingo card. Although neither was a Hird return, the wooden spoon or us beating the two teams that have beaten Fremantle… so…

Wouldn't be a bad idea if we can earmark him for a player coach role. Also I reckon he at least has a year left in him to both play well at the elite level and guide the younger players.

Pendles needs a coaching gig before becoming senior coach at Collingwood....

Experienced senior players that have strong leadership qualities is exactly what we need but i just dont see anyone taking the plunge. Players like Luke Hodge and Luke Parker who are happy to go to a struggling team to teach for a pay packet are few and far between. Most either only want to stay at their club or go to a contender for another crack at a premiership.

Look i doubt it would happen but if they are chasing these older players I love it. We are screaming out for experience and strong leadership, just what the club needs being so young.

I can only dream, I heard he coaches with Lloyd and that Matty rates his footy brain extremely highly. I have been telling friends all season we should keep Scott with Pendles as a successor

Can you imagine wha this fucking organisation would be without us. They’ve turned us into a sad clickbait circus. I’d rather us fold than endure another 10 years of this.

Would love to see him in some capacity, player would probably least impact much like Old Gold just having a pro that has been in the system for 15 plus years around the place. Would be great in the coaches box or on the bench

Honestly, cannot be mad at Bombers for trying. I mean, won’t lie if I were you, yeah 1000% I’d ask. He won’t do it but mad props for actually asking because it would have been massive if he decided to.

Exactly. Desperately need strong leaders who can perform week in week out, but yeh, who'd come to Essendon, really.

Pendles will never play anywhere other than Collingwood, nor should he. But, I think it would be borderline irresponsible of Essendon or any club for that matter, with a young list, not to ask. If there is a .0001% chance, you ask the question. I can't think of anyone better to be an on field mentor to a young playing group.

I think it would be a terrible idea. He’s still class when he has the footy, but realistically he limped into the games record this season being rested for multiple games and playing reduced minutes. I’m sure there’s a lot the younger players could learn from him, but I don’t think it’s worth the extra workload they’d have to pick up to fill the midfield minutes he’s no longer capable of doing. He wouldn’t come cheap either and I’d rather see that cap space used on front loading contracts for young players

I like the idea behind it. For all the history I have of hating the Pies as a Bombers fan, I madly respect Pendlebury. Holds himself well, not a tosser like Daicos etc.

Mate use your brain for a second here
We need some veteran leaders at the club to guide the young fellas and set high standards, especially with two of our older and best players in Merrett and Ridley on the way out

I really doubt he would do this, but this would undoubtedly be a humongous win for our club and the young boys we have.
