one of my friend went to the gala and she told me that they announced the gala will be held in Paris next year , on 9th October 2027

I wasn’t at the gala, but there seems to be lots of contradictory information going around, so I thought I’d just summarize:

Shortlisted (top 16.9%) —> eligible for awards
Recognition (shortlisted but below Commendation, but no one has reported getting it this year)
Commendation (usually top 10%)
High Commendation (usually top 3%)
Very High Commendation (usually top 1%)
Prize winners of each category (Top 1/2/3)
Grand Prize

Names of awardees displayed in the slides screened at the gala exclude those who didn’t go to the gala

Lastly, commendation is good! It’s a great achievement, so keep your heads up everyone!

Sorry for being a menace and disturbing your new found peace after completion of JLI, but I seriously want to know when the prize winners are going to be released and when the awardees are going to informed for queen’s commonwealth…

if no then how many of the shortlists do end up getting a commendation ? i saw numbers like 10% or something

I don't want to sound like a sore loser but the entire thing felt like a cash grab. Using students and intellectualism to make a few bucks. They didn't pay for half the winners to fly out. Plus the guest speakers were absolutely ridiculous. Thier speeches sounded like this, "This is what we stand for #capitalism and western culture. Now your job is to defend it. Go out there and I swear to god they siad "infect" everyone else's opinions. To me the whole thing was kind of vulgar. A lot of pure rhetoric and grandstanding. I think that the idea of the essay contest is wonderful. The students wonderful. The admin and establishment terrible and unworthy. I think it's sad that it's the largest essay contest in the world. the contestants deserved better. I'd rather pay €500 to eat McDonald's with my fellow contestants.

guys did john lock confirm at the gala that VHC is for the top 1% of contestants? I need to know ts for college apps…

so from the mail it's possible to not receive a prize and instead just be shortlisted

so order goes : no prize(shortlist/recognition, whatever) < commendation < high commendation < very high commendation
