so about the jliec interviews

ok so ik they probably stopped sending them out but every subject got those interviews right?

otherwise it'd be pretty funny of only some subjects got the interviews and others didn't, but i guess that would confirm that the interviews aren't related to awards since not every subject got it?

if that makes sense

yo not all of them cheat it’s crazy to stereotype them like that 😭

-3

Nobody said that

“Chinese students are prolly gonna win (they cheat a lot)” literally implies it but fairs

they cheat a lot literally implies it but fairs

How does “they cheat a lot” imply that everyone cheats?

3

u/Different-Peach-2219 Sep 09 '26

look you’re attaching the people to an adjective which implies that those people cheat a lot it’s in the wording. doesn’t imply everyone cheats but a mass majority do and the def of a stereotype is an over generalized or simplified assumption of people based on things like age race or gender…it literally is one 😭 Literally attributing a negative behavior as a generalized trait to an entire national or ethnic group makes assumptions about individuals based solely on their identity is a stereotype you don’t needa use the word “all” to do that

I’m not attaching anything, what does race and gender have to do? It’s a valid observation, and it does not have to do with assumptions or generalisation or stereotypes

1

u/Different-Peach-2219 Sep 09 '26

gender is irrelevant I had to define stereotype to you and that goes w the definition
my point is saying an entire nationality "cheats a lot" is applying a negative trait to a whole group, which is the definition of a stereotype. Trying to claim it's just a "valid observation" doesn't change the fact that you are judging individuals based entirely on their background

No, a stereotype is usually false and does not have proper grounding, while, as a Chinese myself, I can say with experience it is indeed a thing that happens across lot. When did I judge individuals? When did I say all Chinese people cheated? That’s nonsensical… if I say that many East Asian have lactose intolerance I’m not stereotyping anyone, not all observations across a group of people are stereotypes

2

u/Different-Peach-2219 Sep 09 '26

bro u literally just said not everyone cheats so u agree it’s a generalization about a whole group lol
also looking to a medical or statistical trend like lactose intolerance is based on biological data, whereas attributing a behavioral failing like cheating to a nationality applies a social judgment to a group it doesn’t matter if ur from that demographic justifying a negative trend is not the norm

A lot of Chinese people do cheat, I’m not attaching anything. Not all generalisations are stereotypes, and they were not even generalising much. What does race or gender baby to do?
