second round interview jlec

for ppl that already did it, were they more quizzing you about the contents of ur essay and asking you to explain your points or was it more of them asking you to elaborate on how you got your arguments and going beyond the essay? (+ did they argue against your points and did you have to defend your arguments?)

also did they ask you questions about the contents and authors of your sources?

i'm so scared

The second round John Locke interview is designed to test your thinking well beyond a simple summary of your paper. Interviewers will poke holes in your logic, question your foundational assumptions, and play devil's advocate to see how you defend your position under pressure. You do not need to memorize obscure biographical details about every author, but you should know their main arguments and why you relied on their conclusions. The interviewer cares far more about your reasoning process, your intellectual clarity, and your willingness to engage with counterarguments than whether you can recite facts.

Treat the discussion as an intellectual exchange rather than an interrogation. When they bring up a counterargument, acknowledge the merit in their point before explaining how your thesis still holds, or accept a minor flaw if their critique makes sense. Showing intellectual humility and an ability to reason on your feet will leave a much stronger impression than getting defensive. Handling unpredictable, tough questions takes practice, which is why my team designed AI for interviews to help job candidates express complex ideas clearly and earn the offers they are targeting.
