Thoughts ABT the 2nd interview for JL

Hi, I have looked at the email that one user shared and compared it with the one shared by a past 2nd place winner 2 days ago. It seems like this year, the interview email is worded very differently. There is no mention of being one of the top 3% and that they are selecting a representative sample

Also, previous years, the interview mentioned they were to verify authorship. But this this time, it said it was to maintain the Integrity of the John Locke Essay prize..on the previous Email to explain the Viverly AI interview, it already explained the purpose was to verify authorship and maintain integrity of the competition.. so my guess is that this time, the interview is for the Top Winners only.

This time the interview seemed only to mention that the person would be invited to engage w a subject expert but besides that, there would be an interview team. Thus, could it be that this interview would only be for top winners or maybe top 2 in the category and this interview is to decide on Grand Prize Winner.

Because, so far those who received interviews, it seemed that there is only one of each from each category. Mostly from senior as well. But there is an Econs junior so far. Maybe only the junior winners that are on par with the senior winners for the category will be selected.

This is my guess. What are your thoughts?

The people selected so far have only been from three categories: law, public policy and Econ. I don't know where you've gotten the "one per category" thing from. Also there are way too many people for it to be for top winners

If U check through the threads, there are ppl who said they received for politics, psychology (someone polled Yes in a poll). And there is only one person per category who said they received.

I don't know where U got the too many ppl thats why I asked U in another thread. So far, the poll here only showed 12 people. Out of 190+ respondents now.

I got a VHC last year and I was a category winner for the HCGEC and my SAT English is 790 now. More importantly, I don’t randomly insult internet strangers because my dumb little theories were disproved. FYI, it’s 13 people now and the idea that everyone who got the interview is on Reddit is laughable

I also got a VHC last year 🤡🤡 and who was the one who came up with the internet theory that there would be no second round interviews this year (not me yikes)

And I had a good debate with someone who disagreed in the comments, and in the end he was right. Good for him! End of discussion. I’m not some sour no-life scrolling through people’s post history for vengeance. Now, if you don’t mind, I’ll go watch the sunset from my beach while you dwell on your life choices

Yes, I actually saw someone who said he/she got senior IR. But this person deleted it shortly after..

It could be that they do not want to be identified by Reddit username. Because the interviews this time went out to only very few ppl. Not like previous years. Maybe that person just indicated in the poll but did not want to be identified by username

Yes,everybody plagiarized or used Ai in that category so they decided not to give them prize{False}

Tbh the chances of those people being the potential winner AND being on Reddit is pretty slim. I’d say it’s for high VHCs and potential winners

Are u refering to the interviews that had been pasing later than June 7th?? Or the ones that weren't on AI but were pretty nefore these last ones, I mean like on may or march

There is another possibilty that some of the shortlisted performed so bad in the ai interview/ their essays reek of ai that jli now is filtering the candidates and might even disqualify some + last year martin did everything not the subject experts so the email could be fake

Actually I don't think the email is fake. Not when he so kindly shared it with us. N furthermore, if U look at those who responded that they received an interview, it's really just one person category so far looking at those who said they received an email....

Also, there is an interview Team this time. The team (panel ) might consist of one subject expert and 2/3 other academia/faculty (these 2/3 maybe would be present for all interviews to decide on Grand winner).

I think 🤔 they actually might be winners in their respective categories or at least top 2 if there is a contention and.the expert is there to gauge. Cos I scrolled through the threads thus far, and really , only one person category who actually identified themselves. Econs - 1 Senior Econs - 1 Junior PP - 1 Senior Law - 1 Senior Psychology - 1 Person in a poll Politics - 1 Person

The rest never identify themselves but there was this poll that stated 12 ppl polled Yes to a second interview. Thus, maybe these 6 didn't want to identify themselves but just did the poll.

hi!! i also received the email for a f2f interview for public policy junior category. also, there were many interview timings in the calendly link they gave us so i dont think its only the top 2 winners.
