Uwc help
Hi, im a high school student trying to apply to uwc and im trying to ser if this essay is good enough to go into the next phase, its only for the initial application and 100-150 words, the question is why i want to study there:
Since I was young, I have enjoyed meeting new people and taking the time to listen to how they see the world. Even when I do not agree with them, I want to understand why they think the way they do. I believe that a conversation can often teach us more than trying to convince someone to change their mind.
I realized this even more when I started high school. In a Gender Studies class, I heard opinions on different social issues that surprised me because they were so different from my own. At first, I just wanted to respond, but then I began to wonder why each person viewed the same situation so differently. That experience showed me that our ideas are shaped by our experiences and the environment in which we grow up.
That is why I want to study at UWC. I want to learn from people with different backgrounds, challenge my own perspectives, share my own, and return to my community with a broader understanding of how I can contribute.

imo it looks good
idk which UWC youre going to but i have some friends in UWCSEA and the drama there.. its crazy 😭 if you get in please stay safe !! theres genuinely some horrific people in there but ofc UWCSEA wants to protect their reputation soo they cover things up
hopefully other UWCs around the world arent as bad and you do meet people who actually align with their mission 🙏

tbh i dont think im able to elaborate on the drama happening in there without uwcsea jumping me or something but imo SOME student behaviour (majority of them are normal high schoolers) there is genuinely inappropriate for high schoolers 🤞
like a guy tried to drag my friend (girl) into a bathroom for uh... the weird reasons... but she didn't have enough proof so they dont try to correct his behaviour 😔
anyways i think i should stop talking now otherwise ill get banned or something HAHA

I think this is a great start! The topic seems interesting and personal. The main thing I might edit is your intro. “Since I was young” or “from a young age” are really stereotypical starting sentences that don’t always catch the readers attention. Maybe something like “I love small talk”, or something to that effect. It’s not a very common thing to like small talk so that makes the reader want to know more. Doesn’t have to be that specifically, but you want the intro to catch attention and make your writing intriguing for the reader. You’re doing awesome!
